Vallely said it’s time for millions of Americans to “stand up” to a federal government that is “conducting treason … violating the Constitution, violating our laws.” He’s calling for marches, a legislative vote of “no confidence” in President Obama and congressional leaders, even citizen arrests – drawing inspiration from the 33 million Egyptians who stood up to their government and removed Muslim Brotherhood officials from office.

Vallely also said the radio interview in which he called for a new American uprising has struck a note with the millions of modern tea partiers who are looking for unifying leadership.
“It’s been all over Facebook, a number of websites, radio shows calling me for interviews,” Vallely said. “And the response I’ve received has been 99-percent positive.
“I think the biggest thing is that someone is finally standing up to lead,” he explained. “We need someone to lead; we need a new George Washington.

Thoughts on Defensive War

I do, however, recognize Jesus as a philosopher. One who has promulgated a set of values and "laws" that have been a, if not the the, major force in establishing the rules by which most of mankind lives today. I believe also that the Ten Commandments are inherent in every human as certain behavior traits are inherent in most animal species. As a crude example, the act of a dog lifting his hind leg when urinating. Not wanting to be killed, robbed, disrespected, etc. are as much Human Values as the are Holy Commandments. It doesn't matter if you believe they were God-given or just realized and written down by some observant scribe in pre-history.
Now then, let's all try to get everyone to recognize the fact that Christianity has been the motivating force that has allowed mankind to progress these last 2000+ years from partially civilized tribes living in a mostly-primitive manner to the highly technical, medically safe and proficient, civilized society that we have become today.
Stop railing about Christianity as a religion worshiping Jesus and start thinking of Christianity as a philosophy that has created an environment that has allowed us to progress to our present level of technical and governmental excellence. The philosophy of Jesus as passed down to us was conceived by careful examination of the several thousand years of Jewish experience from the Old Testament, the writings of all the ancient Greeks and a great deal of common sense.
If you, like me, cannot reconcile in your own head that Jesus is God, then just respect the man for his philosophy and where it has brought civilization. Without it I believe we would be far worse off.
Please check your premises. Christianity killed off the roman empire, killed off science and technology including burying important technological advances for centuries.(see when was cement invented). Christianity was key in forcing illiteracy among the populace all the way up to kings, it is responsible for killing off tens of thousands through the inquisition, tried to kill Galileo and other scientists and philosophers. It was only with the Renaissance and the rejection of Christian dogma, that Europe began to take off.
We were founded on natural rights which in many ways is incongruous with Christianity. Start here:the right to pursue your own happiness vs. duty to God. All men are born free vs. born in original sin. You own yourself vs vessel of Christ.
In no way am I trying to disrespect Christians, but I'm not going to stand aside and watch you rewrite history here brewby
Credit for the intellectual progress that has occurred in the last 2500 years should be placed squarely on the shoulders of the ancient Greek Mathematicians and Philosophers.
We are speaking of the care and respect not the power seeking heads of the church.
Of all the religions extant today Buddhism is probably the best, BUT only if taken as Siddartha Gautama preached it. Specifically: Have neither too much nor too little. Siddartha never claimed to be a God. His followers made him into one of those.
One man/woman gets a great idea and there will certainly be followers who will attempt to capitalize on it for both money and power.
I agree.. Lord Acton said "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." A civil society can only exist if enough citizens are alert to, and take action against, the accrual of power by any entity. This proposed march is one expression of citizen action. Whether some participants choose to pray or not should not detract from the main goal viz. opposing the unwarranted power grab by this government.
Purchase Ayn Rand's "The Vitue of Sefishness" $7 - $8. It is a collection of non-fiction essays. The first essay: "The Objectivists Ethics" pretty much sums up all of what goes on here....25 pages.
Talk about having a chip on your shoulder.

Any guess as to whom this Major General thinks should be the new George Washington? lol

"You have chosen to risk your lives for the defense of this country. I will not insult you by saying that you are dedicated to selfless service — it is not a virtue in my morality. In my morality, the defense of one's country means that a man is personally unwilling to live as the conquered slave of any enemy, foreign or domestic. This is an enormous virtue. Some of you may not be consciously aware of it. I want to help you to realize it."
"The army of a free country has a great responsibility: the right to use force, but not as an instrument of compulsion and brute conquest — as the armies of other countries have done in their histories — only as an instrument of a free nation's self-defense, which means: the defense of a man's individual rights. The principle of using force only in retaliation against those who initiate its use, is the principle of subordinating might to right. The highest integrity and sense of honor are required for such a task. No other army in the world has achieved it. You have."
--- Ayn Rand, Philosophy: Who Needs It?, Speech at West Point, NY, March 6, 1974
As for content, all I can do is to say thank you on behalf of all my comrades and myself. It was my great honor to serve in two wars, four foreign countries, I made 28 training jumps and 1 combat jump into Grenada, leading a bunch of the best men I'll ever know and then I worked fielding the MLRS system in Germany until I suffered the accident that confined me to this wheelchair.
Through it all I truly found that our nation was worth any personal sacrifice except for my honor. In all my service that was the one thing I would never surrender.
