This was a little gem I received in my inbox today. As a special aside to Eudaimonia, be glad you're in another state!!

This is just a whole list of industries which already tax their consumer/clients. That the Dems in the CT statehouse have decided that they haven't spent enough of my hard earned money, is just insulting. My state representative sent an email to me informing me of this massive wealth redistribution scheme put forth by the ever voracious Dems. At least she was proactive with alerting constituents. As soon as my children have finished high school, I'm outta here!!

I was *extremely* pleased to read this morning that, with all votes counted, Michigan's "Prop-1" plan to increase sales and other taxes, a plan on which unions, certain construction companies, and the state itself spent some 30 million to support, was defeated by a five to one margin, a resounding "NO!" to the tax-and-spend interests. Of course, the first response from proponents of the tax increase was that the proposal (the body of which comprised seven short lines of text) was "too complicated and confusing for voters." Presumably the thunderous response was not too complicated and confusing for proponents, despite those initial bleats of denial.

The philosophy of Demoncrats is pragmatic. We'll get the money we want now and worry about what it does later, when later gets here. When later comes around, the solution is still more taxation or avoid the problem by pretending it doesn't exist.

Non_mooching_artist not sure that I would be willing to wait for the kids to grad unless it was this year that they were graduating.

Come on down to Texas. While Texas isn't perfect by a long shot it is far better as far as taxes go than most other states.

I was just talking to my ex-wife, who moved to Texas 25 years ago. She said that her property taxes were reduced significantly when she became a senior citizen - since she no longer has any school-age children. Sounds unbelievable to me! ( Of course, she didn't have school-age children when she moved there either - so the system has flaws. )

what makes you think that you can get away from paying taxes to any government entity, local, state or the feds if you are gainfully employed? they want input from the public; why they are going to raise taxes anyway. that is how government works which you probably know anyway.

Just a comment. The line 'as soon as my kids finish school' rang a bell. It's the one all the school boards use to get budgets passed the voters. Somehow the interested voters all have kids in K-12. The real proactive answer would be straight up I'm Out Of Here. Question pops up. Out of here to where? Any one have an answer for that? It would probably have to have recall, initiative and not be anywhere near a major population area.

It's why I voted no to the new budget. I don't see the rationale, considering one of the elementary schools is slated to close its doors in June. We fortunately have some phenomenal teachers at the high school. No indoctrination. Plus my husband and I have of course taught our children about rational thought and logic since day one.
