if you study economic history, you'll see that all the laws and policies discussed in her book were already tried at different times under different names. What we are dealing with now is just another different version. Imagine leaving Communist Russia and coming to the US under prosperity built with lowering tax rates, decreasing spending and the build out of US infrastructure in electrical power (like the internet of today). then three things happened.
1.progressives since Wilson pushing for big govt were slowly winning (people when pursuing prosperity aren't focusing on constraining govt)
2.stock market had gotten ahead of itself. bound to correct.
3.it was Hoover's response to that correction Roosevelt's policies which threw us into the great depression.
She was shaping and building her philosophy through this time period.
