I was actually going to say, I thought $34M is a bit low for all their trips! I'm fairly sure, especially with all the fundraising trips he goes on, it's MUCH more than what they are stating. but that's just me!
I call one vacation where the first dog (the 4-legged animal, not the 2-legged one) was transported separate from his highness. The reason given was they forgot it, but probably the real reason is that Muslims are not allowed to bring their animals in the same transport vehicle
Presidential vacations might be a legitimate expense to the taxpayer (I don't think so, but I can see that argument) if they go as a family. Tax payers should not have to pay for the family and pose if the prez isn't on the trip. As for fund raisers, the political party should be footing those bills, not the tax payer.
Seriously though, my only regret for coaching our schools basketball team is that I have to be on Island when the king arrives. Then the local news changes to where's the king for 30 minutes.
He really does exhibit the ideals of the ruling class. Peons like me should feel blessed to be stuck in king kaused traffic. Hey I know it is not cheap to live here but dam $3M? For a couple weeks? Home boy needs a debt clock app, and no vacay until the numbers start going down. Well hey it's Saturday night have fun, Aloha!
What's a President to do? After all, as the most powerful man in the world, he can't have his family vacationing at a public beach, swarming with the populace of the country. And, doesn't he deserve a regular game of golf at various courses around the world? It's a very hard job, being president, and it requires his complete attention for at least two hours before his next basketball game. Such sacrifice demands that the first family goes to the finest of locations and even an exotic location. As to the general public sweating under a crumbling economy -- make up a few figures such as a 5.5% unemployment which should convince them that all is well.
No matter what, jabuttrick, the taxpayer paid for Obamas travel (Air Force One), and security, Secret Service being just the beginning. Probably has been true for all presidents
I may be wrong, but I think the travel costs to fundraisers (including operating costs for the plane) are allocated to the entity running the fundraiser, not the taxpayers. You are right, of course, about secret service costs. They are always 100% paid by you and me.
Hillary is still the heir presumptive, and despite the scandals, will still probably be crowned by the Democrats. That's when the fun begins. She can't really distance herself from the present administration or she'll lose major support from DNC. I can hardly wait to see her trying to connect the dots to blame George W. For the last seven years.

It would be interesting to see how many of these vacations the head mogul takes on his own dime after he leaves office.
I wish we could have set the clocks forward twelve months this morning.
