I don't really have a problem with some of these immigrants but there are issues. I'm from Minnesota and have met quite a few. A big difference between the Nigerians and the Somalians is their religion. A majority of the Nigerians that come here anyway are Christian and the Somali are all Muslim. If I were a Christian in Nigeria and I had a chance to go to another country under asylum rules versus having my whole family slaughtered by Boko Haram, I would probably choose the asylum route too. They seem to be going through the usual process. Once the Somalis kind of assimilate, they end up in the suburbs with normal jobs living pretty normal lives. The problem though is that there are big boroughs in the city where there are chunks of Somalians who refuse to assimilate. They are the ones that produce the Al-Shabab recruits and live perpetually on welfare. I think that if they didn't make $35k a year on welfare, there would be more assimilating and moving out to the burbs. The problem is that when this happens, we don't send them back. Even joining Al-Shabab isn't considered treason which I don't get. How is taking the side of the enemy not treason? A funny observation I had after returning to the city after a few years was that the Mexican areas all turned into Somali areas.. the Somali's drove the Mexicans out to the burbs. Also it is true that some of the Somalians ask for special treatment, which I do not like and is why a lot of people don't like them and they misinterpret it as racism. Which is really stupid, because most of the things that people don't like them for are that they demand permission to discriminate against religion and sex.. and then they complain about discrimination. Mind boggling.

I don't understand letting people show up here to then get on welfare PERMANENTLY (or at all for that matter)... this country has done itself in in the name of being compassionate.

I have friends who got stuck in Minnosota as well as in Indiana, while the rest of the peaople watch the TV in horor on 9/11 They all reported our Guest (believed somali or ethiopian) high fiving and laughing when the towers came down. They cheered the attackers.
I will never get the image of the CAIR reps walking around the tower in full burkas and ME attire followed by a camera trying to get someone to pick a fight with them. This is part of a strategy.

      But back to this issue.
The major difference between the two groups is just how they commited fraud to get here. But make no mistake fraud is for both groups

I agree that anyone who cheers on terrorists should be suspect, anyone who financially supports terrorists or plots to join them should be tried and have their citizenship or residency status revoked. I know there has been fraud, a lot of them (both groups) got financial help from Christian charity orgs and lied to get the money. To do that and then turn around and support people who kill Americans is pretty much one of the lowest things looters do.

This has been going on for decades. The only changes at any given time is which group of "unfortunates" they bring in.

Somalis right now, although this isn't the first wave of them. Afghanis, Iraqis, Bosnian, etc.

This is old news. Ask anybody from Minnesota or Wisconsin about people from Somalia. A lot work in the poultry plants that are prevalent in the area or some other menial task that most Americans will not do because they feel it is beneath them. However, that American is not to proud to take the handouts from their dear, old Uncle Sam. I was brought up in Wisconsin in the 60's and I worked my tail off working in the fields of some farm or in the potato warehouses or moving irrigation pipes before there were center pivots. It provided me with money for my electronics projects or to stash away for college. I personally have never collected unemployment or welfare and will do whatever I have to, to stay off such programs. I know they are prevalent and they are there as a safety net but I refuse to lower myself to being a couch potato and sucking from the government teet for my subsistence. It grates me though that my taxes and yes, I pay a lot, pay for those that feel it is their right to partake in this government redistribution of wealth, to take from that that produce and give to those that do not.

I think that you have hit a key concept. The reason that thousands of Mexicans (and others) come across the border is that there ARE jobs here for them. These are jobs that most Americans refuse to take - field hand, chicken killers.

It is almost like the Gas Laws. We have a job niche that is unfilled, and people come in from other countries to restore it to equilibrium. Our first task is to fill that job niche with people who are already present in the US and who are willing to do the work. This is done by denying financial support to able-bodied people (which should be politically non-contested). This should return the Job-Gas Laws to equilibrium and reduce the immigration pressure.

Excellent analogy with the Gas Laws of Equilibrium. That is the key for movement of labor. Just like the migration of job seekers to North Dakota and the Permian Basin of Texas/New Mexico. Eventually it will equalize out and fewer people will migrate to those areas. When it hits the wall, those people will move somewhere else for employment. All this started with the migrant laborers back in the 60's in the fields of California and other places. They saw the standard of living that was better than what they had back home and they wanted it, so they stayed. Then relatives saw that those people were living better and sending money back home and they wanted the same thing, so they came and stayed. So on and so on until, BOOM, you have 11 or 18 million undocumented people across the border. It is not just Democrats or Republicans, they are all complicit in this happening. Of course they made the problem and now they are saying they can fix the problem they compounded. More and more regulations and laws to fix what they have brought forth upon the legal citizens of the United States.

I have many issues with the various refugee programs, running the gamut from cost to who is brought in.

But here is one thing that really ticks me off. We allegedly bring all these people here because they will be killed if they remain where they are right?

If that's the case why do the go back and forth to their country of origin for months at a time?
If they are able to do that with no problem why are we giving them refugee status and all the valuta that comes with it?

Only one of the many things wrong with the refugee programs.

I really dont like Muslims. Their religion seems to be based on the idea of killing off all unbelievers. Thats not a religion I want around. People can practice whatever religion they want as far as I am concerned, but NOT if they profess to kill me if I dont believe. Sorry- not politically correct, but I frankly dont care about that part.

the more the merrier of people that hate us. we start with 0 and h and now all of their followers. the bulk of the population of america sees what is going on. those who walk the halls of the congress of the usa are deaf dumb and blind to what is happening. Leonard Peikoff at the end of his book DIM states about 40 years, 2 generations, after reading the book I wrote to him disagreeing and said 20 years, his response was he did not think things would go this bad as quickly as they are. I am now of the opinion 10 years or less when all hell will break loose.

The more looters the faster the producers can get to the Gulch. It's the road we're on. I for one no matter how much I call my Congress person am not being heard. I'm in process of getting my conceal permit so I can protect my family in public places. I've already shrugged got my own gulch.

We had the opportunity to be in the St.Paul area for 10 days in November and during that time needed to get a prescription filled at Wal-mart on Snelling near the river.
There was LITERALLY S**T on the floor! I was horrified! They need to be taught how to assimilate by being taught what toilets are for and how to use them.
However, one of our shuttle drivers was Somali and very nice...wise and understanding.
As in all things, assimilation depends upon the individual.

"As in all things, assimilation depends upon the individual." That is the key.

I went to the U of Minnesota, and I had a class where I was taught the US idea of assimilation should be a "Stew" instead of a "Melting Pot" (I kid you not). So basically everyone should form their own little chunks and be around everyone else but not mix in. Well, after you live in the real world you realize that does not work and it's a really crappy idea to boot.

On a funny note, at the U of M I went to school with a lot of Somali's.. I never did see it on campus but some really DO poop on the floor! Others study legitimate careers and are completely secular... also they use a toilet. A message to the floor poopers... take a lesson from some of your peers and at least try to assimilate, the melting pot should be poop-free IMHO.

It USED to be that immigrants came here because they wanted to fit into OUR culture and ways of living. Now it seems that they just are into taking what we have, but they could care less about our society- not even our language.

Sounds like the time for a Constitutional Convention is at hand. There are legislators in 40 states working to call for the CC under Article V, and it only takes 34. Get in touch with your state legislators and attorneys general, and let's get this thing going. The President can't stop it, nor can Congress or the Federal Judiciary.l

First thing they buy a boat. Then apply to the Attorney General for a gun running job. Along the way there are all these really ritzy yachts. Maybe it's a way importing workers while we're exporting jobs. Second thing teach them how to say Arrrrrrgh in Californian. That would be Arrrrrrgh?

I’m more concerned that they allow all Nigerians in without much fanfare. The Somalians will be scrutinized much more so. Most Somalians I have met are pretty overwhelmed with the culture shock at first. They come from one of the poorest nation on the earth. They learn to love America quickly.
I’m of two minds here. I really don’t mind them coming, but I do mind that every misstep this President has made has given the idealogical enemy a new foothold somewhere on the globe.

It leaves me demoralizingly weary, unable to 'entertain guest'.

the culture fatigue from low-assimilation intake of
people who want to leech off of the wealth of the
u.s. has most of us dreary and many, angry. . the
Dems' scheme of maintaining a dependent, D-voting
class is demoralizing to the "silent majority" who
retreat into family and friends, avoiding the inherent
problem. . therein lies the demise of the nation,
in my humble opinion. -- j
