I may have to enter with my three pigs giving it to three jihadists in hell while the devil watches with mohammed on a leash, and mohammed saying "Sorry boys, I really thought I was the prophet!"

I agree with Ms. Geller's premise. We must not be silenced. If I could draw I would enter the contest just to be part of the rising voice of freedom and liberty. We should maybe add to the contest innovative ways of pissing off the radical muslims!!

I'm torn. I don't see the point in intentionally seeking to antagonize anybody. Not out of fear or intimidation, but more out of propriety. On the other hand, Jews and Christians particularly, but to a lesser extent other religions as well, have had to endure the onslaught of caricatures for decades (perhaps centuries). So, the Muzzies need to get over it. Is this going to help in that effort or hurt it? I don't know.

As for the "winner." Who would want to intentionally put themselves out as a target? For $10k? You'd end up spending more than that on security. Doesn't seem rational to do that for no reason other than to throw it into someone's face. A billion plus someone's of whom the "winner" will likely know absolutely none.

Um...be "torn" all you want because we're all targets anyway Robbie. Wake up. The more people who participate in this type of satire the BETTER. Some times you really disappoint me. Make that MOST of the time.

I'm sorry to hear that. I will vociferously argue philosophy with you, but rarely will I intentionally seek to offend. I consider this forum a "home" for all of us. I would never intentionally offend someone in my home, even when debating them strenuously.

I see no need to intentionally offend someone. I occasionally do because I am human and lose my patience/cool every once in a while. That isn't to say that I don't recognize your statement that we are all targets in any case. This is a war, a religious war, and not of our making. I'll be fighting to defend you, can I expect the same?

          Robbie an excellent sentiment-
" rarely will I intentionally seek to offend." It is bad manners.
I wish there were some other way to make it clear that we are seriously offended, and are aware we are under attack by beheadings burnings slaughter slavery pedophilia and the rest of it, that we are not going to accept it or take it,.
Sometimes, the correct response to irrationality is irrationality,

making it clear that something is absurd by being
absurd in response? . so, in response to Marie Harf's
suggestion that we should find jobs for ISIS fighters,
we should say that they should also take up knitting? -- j

Like it or not, irrationality works.
Meetings are canceled, a radio station is closed, all examples of giving in to terrorism or even just the threat.
You could argue they are not so irrational as they have thought it through. hmm

don't you think that they might just be dumb as a fox,
seeking all of the misogynistic men on earth to form
a caliphate where they rule unchallenged? -- j

Partly, one group who are 'as dumb as..'.
A few who are smart, the video of the beheading of the captured Jordanian pilot is said to be a very professional effort.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating - they are winning at the moment.

                    Replying to my post:
                    http://quadrant.org.au/opinion/qed/2015/...

"We wait in vain for a leader who acknowledges that Islam, a creed devoted to conquest, remains true to its 1300-year tradition of violence, oppression and treachery. What we get instead are lickspittle political opportunists prepared to betray Western civilisation

.. exactly where in the world can you say that Islamism has been decisively rolled back? Middle Eastern and North African rampages go unabated. Iran builds its bomb. Problems are evident throughout Asia and Southeast Asia. Muslim populations are growing rapidly in most Western countries,.. "

                    So who is winning?
In a dispute with Austrians, Belgians, Cambodians or Danes, manners should be correct and care taken not to give offense. But with those?

"FREE SPEECH!!!" Our founders were willing to DIE for their freedom, and we are allowing this band of merciless, jackasses dictate to us OUR laws.

Maybe if we held these contests in a stadium we could lure enough terrorists there we could let them blow themselves up. After all, you can only be a suicide bomber once. LOL

I support free speech. I just don't see being rude as worthy of vocalizing my support.

As for the contest, it seems idiocy to me to intentionally make oneself a target. There are principles that I'll fight for. Making fun of Mohamed isn't one of them. Hell, I'm not out looking to chastise the idiot who put a crucifix in a jar of piss, and that is something that I find personally offensive, nor do I feel any compulsion to go out and lay my life down to support same.

Yes. Just b/c we have a natural right to be dicks if we so desire (I mean that with out irony), it does not mean we need to exercise that right.

There's a book "How to Be a Perfect Stranger" about how to avoid accidentally being ass wrt other people's religious backgrounds. The book was okay. I see no point in antagonizing people.

I understand the motivations of the author, though. In my world "that's blasphemy" is a joke you might say to someone who doesn't like the Packers. In other people's world, blasphemy is a real thing, a crime. That's horrible, but I don't think intentionally blaspheming for no reason is the answer.

Not at all. If you have a reason to create a caricature, then do so. What I don't agree with is intentionally doing so merely to antagonize someone else. Would you agree that someone antagonizing your mother would have the same "rights?" There's just no reason to set this up as it is being set up. This appears to be nothing more than an attempt to antagonize others. I would say that was anti-Objective.

I will paint a picture in words:
    Apocalypse of St. Janasuaria

This is a terrible dream of the Lord that came upon me this night. All who face the eastern sun and kneel on their woven mats are not praying to the Lord. It knows not their prayers through the Centuries. That Desert purveyor who was given the words not by a being of Realm, but by the most High Acheron- the Son of the Morning Star. It was he who was cast down in the horrific battle with the Lord and was scarred by his brother the Defender of the Realm.
He has planned his return well. The Son of the Morning Star slumbers though the eons towards restoration by the chanted prayers of his un-aware believers. He will rouse from his slumber and they will call him the Mahdi, the anointed one.
He will gather the faithful and he will show them the Paradise they desire. A Paradise of their blood which he will bless Mecca, Medina and the Dome of the Rock. New things will grow from those places; horrible and dark things. They will fill their mouths with the gore of the Imams and the Clerics.
Those others will fare no better. She, out of Babylon will ride upon the Beast. Her name is most wicked. It was the power of Majick that brought her into the world through the mushroom doorway. They will all bow down on bended knee to her and their blood will flow in the streets.
All who are left will hide in the Caves of the World, as the armies will fight and die. Cities will be raised to the ground. Only the Refuge will remain safe a place, which was old and sacred with the manifestation of the Lord.
A Dream Walker will be the true Light Bringer. His soul filled with holy Rage, enters the heavenly sphere and throws the guardian Melchizedek down the stairs at the Treasury of Light and tears the Vaulted Doors away. The Light of Glory engorges the realm as it roars from its’ prison. Obliterating all that is un-Holy. A Tidal-bore of Glory roars through all the Heavens and storms on the poisoned world. On ruins of Megiddo the Son of the Morning Star and She-Beast will be torn into droplets of molten glass. The Lord’s Light-titanic hammers the all the dark things into the Void. The illumination breaths the World green! Garden has returned!
