More military surplus given to local LEO

As soon as the weapons were trotted out in Ferguson, Capitol Hill idiots denounced the presence of such weaponry. Still, more weapons are handed over from the DoD. Looks to me that Obama and cronies are creating the promised civilian police force equal to the military...your guess at the purpose behind it all?

- 2Posted by mobilus 9 years, 10 months agoOh, the first incarnation was called the 1208 Program, and it was primarily focused on the "drug war". It became the 1033 Program in 1996...so yes, it has been around for quite some time. What concerns me most is that there is no public record of the transfers from the DoD to local police departments. Personally, I can see police departments possessing M-4s, because in all free states an individual can legally buy and possess that weapon. The potential for use of force should be equal. That doesn't mean that just because a terrorist smuggles in an RPG, your local LEO should possess the same. However, that's what this looks like...an arms race.
