Hi. My name is... You can call me D.B.

I'm very happy to have landed in the Gulch... My first introduction to Objectivism was Anthem. I stumbled across the book by accident while in high school. I'm not a rabid fan of Rand and haven't read all of her work. Rand thought that Atlas Shrugged was the apotheosis of her philosophy and that's good enough for me.
I might, however, be a rabid fan of Objectivism.
For the longest time, I struggled with the apparent conflict between how I make my living and what I thought Rand meant by "producers" v "looters". I don't produce anything in the strictest sense. I work in IT and earn my wage fixing computers and keeping them running. One day it dawned on me that I am indeed a producer, because a producer is anyone who provides something that another person values and makes a fair trade for it. If my boss didn't find value in what I do, he wouldn't be paying me. ...Anyway, that's why I came to the Gulch.

You are indeed a producer!
"Jan"
(not to be confused with any other 'Jan')
(besides which, I always read "db" as "database")
