If someone gets offended by the words of another it is because they CHOOSE to be...so they can then get righteously vicious in their condemning, tissue holding, intolerant, finger pointing. Which, apparently, is easier for them than just coming up with a well reasoned argument.
Well how offensive is that! Kidding! You nailed it. I can't tell you how many times I've said the same thing. I'm still a believer in the stick & stones thing.
I'm very offended by all of this. And you all OWE it to me to stop talking about it. Ummm...where did everyone go? Anyone there? Anyone...? ... ... ...
Maybe there should be a consequence for demanding a consequence because one is offended?
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Fannie Lou Hamer
I just got tired of being sick and tired and feeling down. Unfortunately, you don't realize this until you're getting sober but the reason why you're depressed all the time is it's the drugs that are depressing you. Steven Adler
The world will change for the better when people decide they are sick and tired of being sick and tired of the way the world is, and decide to change themselves. Sydney Madwed
Bill Cosby: "And tired" always followed sick. Worst beating I ever got in my life, my mother said, "I am just sick..." And I said, "And tired." I don't remember anything after that.
didn't this start with "hate speech" and "hate crime" -- concepts which live in redundancy like "period red" and "arrest-me red," colors which friends have called their favorite rides, a bronco and a corvette, respectively.
if you're pissed because I'm breathing your air, it is not hate-worthy, and you are free to despise without *government* intrusion, as you wish!!! -- j
"hate speech" and "hate crime" are just euphemisms for "thoughtcrime". I'll never understand why it's not acceptable to hate Bob because he's male, black, gay, old, young, whatever, but perfectly acceptable to hate Bob because he's... Bob.
Having been in the publishing business and printing controversial stories, I can tell you first hand about unfair revues. It's particularly frustrating when the reviewers criticize the best parts without understanding them and latch on to inconsequentialities to make their points. Read most revues of A.S. and the only thing you can say is "Wha?" They don't even come close to getting it. It boils down to most readers being smarter than most reviewers.
When I was working a summer job in high school (shipping dept of a factory) one of the adults who worked there was a black/brown guy partly of african decent. Sometime in the first week I was there he pulled me aside and asked me. "Are you prejudiced?" I answered, "Everyone is prejudiced in some way."
And you all OWE it to me to stop talking about it.
Ummm...where did everyone go? Anyone there?

Long-time gulch members will understand why.
Thankfully, the hilarity has not yet been made complete with a comment by khalling... :)
