The whole protest thing was never about an indictment against the officer.

That was the immediate goal they wanted. But their long term goal appears to be some new Federal "disparate impact" rule for police, that would require total force used against blacks per capita = total force used against whites per capita regardless of their behavior (just like the rule the feds are already trying to impose on K-12 schools).

If they get their way, police will be more dangerous to the peace of society than not having them around.

They're already more dangerous. In Oklahoma, with a population of 3.8 million a study just released reveals that 109 citizens have been shot and killed since 2007, with only one found to be non-justified. Since 2009 when the victim count was only 7, the number of such shootings per year has tripled while only 3 LEOs were killed statewide during the same time period and assaults on police have been on the decline nearly 30% during that time.. Blacks were 18% of the victims, but 7% of the population and whites were 62% of the victims.

The police cadets in training are being taught to be prepared to shoot 'when' it happens, not 'if'. Shooting targets are man shaped with pictures of real people in many facilities.

not questioning your stats but cite please. I want them. I agree that tactics and protocol in police academies has indeed changed over the years with emphasis on de-humanizing suspected "perps"I have that first hand from two officers (retired) Seattle police force. They purposely run refresher training with an emphasis on toughening officers to their natural inclination of trust to see every potential traffic stop as a likely escalation. that ain't right

Found it. The party setting up the crowd source research and report is pretty interesting. Reporting on the lack of records in The Washington Post on 9/9/14: "Earlier this year, the Gawker Media-owned sports Web site Deadspin launched a project to crowd-source a definitive list of police shootings by analyzing local media reports – a system modelled off of Fisher’s 2011 effort."

A better article is available at: Deadspin is Crowdsourcing a Police Shooting Database

The study was published in The Oklahoman on 11/9/14 and was based on a study and research performed by the The Tulsa World. As noted in the article, "The comprehensive picture of people who died statewide in law enforcement shootings is not reported by any public agency, though reports of total numbers do exist for some years." Apparently, the World had to research through the State OSBI (Bureau of Investigation), the OK state medical examiner's office, as well as lawsuits and other public records.

In doing a little further search myself because of this article, I've found that the lack of records and reports is nation wide. I'm embarrassed to say that I did find a group that is attempting to compile such records nationwide and has started a page to accumulate reports from the public, but I've lost the link to the group. The reporting page can be found at: https://docs.google.com/a/pldi.net/sprea...

I'm still searching madly for the links back to the group and will provide it, hopefully soon.

This is being fomented into a race war. It will be used to enact martial law and emergency powers. The 2016 elections will be postponed, indefinitely.

    Mark my words.

And to think, Time wants to name the Ferguson protesters Person of the Year. The country is sick and not sure it can be cured.

      Well, is that a surprise?
There hasn't been a single honorable person honored by Time's person of the year in the 21st century.
1990's - only Turner, Bezos, and Grove
It's more a list of the residents of Looterville.

Not at all. But the rioters hide behind a curtain of respectability that not everyone will penetrate. In this video they are being honest with the world by stepping from behind their mask and displaying their brutal, murderous nature. Only other like-minded thugs possibly could support this.

What curtain of respectability? "Respectable" supporters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Respectable my ass!

I was referring to those individuals shown in the video, mostly white, that use controversy like this to tear at the system from within. They look like reasonable and respectable people until their open their mouths and prove otherwise. I grant that America has its problems but gathering into mobs that foment anarchy and destruction is not the way to resolve them.
