Why the Houthis Aren’t America’s Problem

"The wee countries of Eastern European NATO actually have some modest throw-weight compared to what’s involved in the raging Yemen bombing leak controversy at the top of today’s the news. Of course, the controversy is all about the leak of what practically amounts to a scheduled bombing run against a tiny spec of an “enemy” on the Red Sea coast. But the far more important question is why in the hell was the Donald bombing the bedraggled Houthi installations in the first place?
Or as Ann Coulter expressed it more colorfully,
…because right now, his foreign policy team is looking like John Bolton without the ridiculous Wilford Brimley mustache. Since Trump keeps hiring these people, it’s a good time to remind him that, in 2016, he won more primary votes than any Republican in U.S. history (as well as the election) by saying things like this about a war that had a million more justifications than his recent bombing of the Houthis:
“Obviously, the war in Iraq was a big, fat mistake. … We spent $2 trillion, thousands of lives … George Bush made a mistake. We can make mistakes. But that one was a beauty. We should have never been in Iraq. We have destabilized the Middle East.”
So why does Trump keep surrounding himself with tinhorn cowboys who think it’s America’s responsibility to drone, bomb, invade and occupy other countries whenever and for whatever reason they want?"

they ARE are problem
they shoot at American Navy ships and civilian ships
why not let the people who are most affected by that take the action to stop them?
Let Israel do their own dirty work. Let the EU defend their imported goods.
They wouldn't be shooting at US Navy unless the US Navy was loitering there.
This action by the US military is the opposite of all the rest of Trump's goals.
If it was such a big issue and the US stayed out, wouldn't Israel and the EU
take military action?
Pirates attack American private craft all over the world and the US Navy doesn't send a fleet to attack the pirates.
imo, this is Trump responding to the Israel lobby for political reasons, not American economic reasons.
The economic effects to America as shown in the article are trivial and the military response is a ridiculous waste.

It's one of Peter Ziehans core tenants. Our navy made it safe for HUGE transports to REDUCE net shipping costs to pennies/item. Because they can move slow and be safe.
The minute the seas are no longer safe, transport boats must get smaller or travel the long way around. EITHER results in a net increase in shipping fees / item. This will drive input costs higher, then product prices higher.
If China has to pay a lot more to use the seas, they will invest more in SUPER TRAINS. This is GREAT for China, less good for us. But in the interim, the input costs go up, so China has to charge more, which drives our prices higher.
Admittedly the solution is to make everything here. BUT that is a 10-20 year investment cycle.
If the seas get much worse, you are letting a small group of thugs control the largest countries Economies. That doesn't make sense to me.
I'm glad to see people speak their minds. That's how I learn.
Peter Z. has repeatedly made the most idiotic statements about Ukraine and how
Russia has been about to collapse for the past 2 years.
He's sounded like a Deep State paid propagandist.
One of Trump's most important goals is to force the rest of the world to pay their own way.
imo, that includes who deals with these pirates that are primarily affecting the rest of the
world (and specifically Israel and the EU.)
If they want the US Navy to deal with it, then they should commit their resources for the cost
- and not say a word regarding the methods or results.
Make the deal before providing the service.
And my answer would be to let Israel take them out. The problem with Israel is that you get the final answer with "While we were flying by, we bombed Iranian Air Defenses, Some questionable shacks, a goat herder WITHOUT a pager (LOL), etc." And in the end, they will go to congress and get a 250% reimbursement check!
Be wrong out loud. You Learn faster. (That's my motto)
and only waste scarce resources that are much better used at home.
The only reason that the people don't rise up against this is there
has been little loss of American lives, so far.
Just what we need, another Afghanistan.
