Why is the left dying on THIS particular hill?
I've spent the past several months trying to come up with an answer to this question, and so far, I'm batting zero.
In a recent poll, 8 out of 10 people surveyed are dead set against allowing biological men to compete in women's sports. For those who identified as R, that number was 9 out of 10; for those who identified as D, it was almost 7 out of 10 against. There are a number of news stories across the web to support that statement; here is one from the NY Post:

So the question is this: Why have the Dems/Libs/Progs decided that this is the hill they'll die on?
According to a 2022 survey, Politifact reports the percent of Americans who identify as trans is about 1.05% (somewhere between 0.5% and 1.6%, story link below). Which means that they are putting aside the wishes of approximately 266 million people (80 percent of 333M) and catering (sucking up) to about 3.5M (1.05 percent of that same 333M).

The idea of choosing a position that the vast majority of America is against is something I just cannot figure out. If they'd done any homework at all after the election, it would have been glaringly obvious that was one of the huge reasons they lost big.
So why the hell are they sticking with this position? If anyone has any ideas, theories, arguments, etc., I'd love to hear them, no matter how wild-assed and out of left field they might be. I don't have any guesses or theories, not even any bad ones.

Can't get much more of a minority than the trans freaks . . .
These demons that would die protecting trans queers are themselves, mentally ill.
