"The Olympics were magical back then." True, but I stopped watching when American black athletes, supposedly representing AMERICA and all the AMERICANS that made it possible for them to attend, held up racist I-Hate-America fists. I haven't watched the Olympics since.

The Olympics are supposed to be one of the very few times when society celebrates greatness. Not anymore, I guess.

The opening ceremony was disgusting. That is when I decided not to watch. I feel so bad for all the athletes who have trained for years to be in the Olympics. It is just not the same as it use to be.

I haven't watched since attending Olympic baseball in Atlanta in '96
and prior to that only at a cast party during the LA games in 1984.

I realized back in the '70's (read: when I was a kid) that the Olympics had been popularized so that "non-professional" athletes from communist countries could compete head-to-head with "non-professional" athletes from free countries. The catch is: in communist countries, athletes get a government handout like everyone else, so their biggest, most well trained athletes (who amazingly ~don't~ get paid as pro's) compete with our college students who haven't gone pro yet. If they allowed ALL athletes to compete fairly, Russia and China would not have stood a chance.

That being said, Romanian Nadia Comenici would have still won, because she was the best ever, and every single hetero male in the free world would have probably done her, given the chance, and they would have had to stand in line behind me.

I don't care a rat's patootie for the Olympic Joke these days, and won't, until they start following the old Greek tradition again, and make them all compete in the nude, so that you can tell the girls from the boys. Then I'll watch the women's events. Volleyball, wrestling... Maybe not the shot-put. I've seen what those women look like.

Fuck the olympics. Ban me for saying so. I don't care who I offend. This is just plain wrong.

I quit watching all sports when they started disrespecting the anthem. I know that it was the Olympics but it seemed to cascade into everything and I refuse to support any of it.

Your point is well taken. I always thought it would take a major injury for things to change, but based on what happened to a female high school volleyball player in North Carolina almost 2 years ago, I was wrong. Now I think it's gonna take a female "legally" being killed by a guy before the brakes are universally put on this total idiocy. (And if Khelif does kill someone, it will be legal, since it happened in a boxing ring. And that infuriates me even more.)

Right there with you. I think the last one I watched was in China. We got rid of TV not long after that.

Quite frankly there have been sooo many outrageous things going on.

And France. The nerve. They Created ROOMS with now A/C. Uncomfortable beds so they couldn't have sex in the rooms with each other.

Absolutely agree. I am done with it. I previously enjoyed watching the equestrian events given I campaigned in the hunter / jumper circuit. But now the hell with it all.

This nonsense at the Olympics has gotten out of hand - I quit when pro's were allowed to complete....been a while... but putting men in the boxing ring against women?

Ironically, I'll be doing my boxing workout tonight. I'd never get in the ring against a woman. Would have to be sick in the head to do that...

So, I am understanding this person grew up as a female with female parts and male DNA ? WTF kind of crap is that? If that's true, they still shouldn't be allowed to compete IMO.

I never thought I'd say this, but, if they held the Olympics in Russia, the water would be clean, opening ceremonies would be clean and women would compete against women, not men. How far the world has come in my lifetime.

Watching the non femal, actually male posers, I am sick of seeing men who cannot go againt real men, tak over women's categories. I am not big on it in the firs tplace, as they beg handouts to spend time training to be contestants, for years. Just does not seem quite right.

The women need to refuse to go up against these fake women challengers. Do a complete walkout. Let them fight each other, and it will end up like men's sports, men competing against men. Then they need to form a completely new organization based on chromosomes, not sex, not genitalia. If you have XX you can compete, if you have X and a Y you can't. I used to think that it should be based on genitalia, but even that doesn't work today. Or enter in the rules that any male competing in the women's league can only fight Mike Tyson after hiring him to feel like a girl. I'm pretty sure Mike would go along with it.

Lately I am hearing that this is really a woman and always has been. There are some ugly, masculine women out there. What is the real story here?
