Every time I hear some idiot talk about how "diversity for its own sake is good...blah...blah...blah", I ask a simple question. Assume you're going into surgery for a heart transplant or an operation to remove a brain tumor. Who do you want to do that operation: The top ranked surgeon in his class--who happens to be a white heterosexual male--or the 28th highest rated surgeon in his/her class, someone who might have been in that class ONLY because he/she wasn't a straight white male? Or, assume you're on a plane that's getting ready to land in a bad storm. Same scenario about the pilots: Do you want a straight white male who was best in his class, or someone further down the ladder who might have been a diversity hire?

Not one of these idiots has ever given me a straight answer. Which, when you look at it, is really their answer; they just don't want to say it out loud.
