Whenever I hear anyone say "The Fed doesn't know what it's doing..." I am hearing rubbish.
The individuals that pull the levers of legislation, finance, academia, media, war .. the orchestration of the levers is done consciously and with magnificent finesse.
The consciously directed goal is toward the elimination of personal freedom and total dependence on The State.
Going Galt -- to systematically disconnect from The State and reconnect with like-minded individuals that manifest living in the world of objective reality; where actions have consequences and no man is entitled to live as a parasite off the production of his fellow man. Where all exchanges are voluntary and mutually beneficial. We were nearly there, during the Golden Age of America - 1873 - 1913.
I am thinking that the pain will get much worse before serious breakage occurs ... before the NIFO and Pitchforks rhetoric manifests into Reciprocal Actions.
I will leave it to the imagination of the reader as to what is implied by Reciprocal Actions.

I've loosely followed Southernprepper1 for a few years. He seems a solid guy with a lot of good advice, especially for those who have not prepared for tough times. I know he has at least one underground shelter built DIY style, and is great at encouraging everyone to start where you are, take small steps to prepare.

As our world has gotten smaller and smaller through linking everyone with surveillance technology (aka cell phones, wifi, GPS and camera satellites etc.) I don't know that there is a rarely known or undiscovered valley on the planet left for anyone to "Go Galt" like may have been represented in AS.

There is a need for community of like minded people, though. It's just that those in physical communities will be labeled as cultists or living in communes. Not to judge, mind you, as I have been called worse over the years. I think the Galt community, and prepper communities, as well as many others are now often necessitated to exist physically separate from each other, not together in a far off valley, but right where they live and work currently. It's more of a "gray man" existence, operating daily among those who are unaware or maybe even hostile towards your thinking or beliefs. Those same folks who will undoubtedly go door to door to take what they choose for the "greater good", should we encounter catastrophe, be it EMP, pandemic, financial crash, military invasion, solar flares or whatever.

Going Galt is very attractive in theory. A self sustaining community with it's own economy, set up to reward ethics and positive self interest towards a better existence for all involved... But I think we may have come too far to actually make that happen. Those who believe in being prepared, in being relatively self reliant, in critically thinking for themselves and questioning the talking heads and political think tanks that only push private agendas on the public- we are becoming a shrinking breed. I think our movements may have to become stylized as guerilla warfare, in expanding minds as we live, rather than a tactical withdrawal from society and it's failures.

However- :) nothing wrong in being prepared for what inevitably may come, having a physically removed retreat set up, so that a person/family/friend group of like minds may remove themselves from the fray before the evil appears overwhelming. I think that's really just rational self interest in action!

A friend of mine just bought a barndominium in the stix of Texas. He is going to add solar, a well, a suitable garden, and probably some chickens all in anticipation of an economic crash caused by the printing of money. Sounds like a goo plan to me..

The man talks sense. Like South Carolina, Ohio has a House full of RINO bastards who are keeping HB 51 in committee . To sum it up, this bill protects Ohio citizens who own firearms from federal over-reach. The unions are against it, the patrol on the street is for it. I write a lot of letters, the last one not very polite (no bad language). A lot of us are putting as much pressure on those cowards to do their duty as we can. The unions didn't elect them, we the people did, and it's way past time to remind them of that fact.
