That vase reminds me of my ex.
Born Year 1947 Baby Boomer me dino wonders if that camera has advanced to push buttons from rotary dialing.
Yeah, I recall thinking that making phone calls by pushing buttons was quite a technological advancement when I was a teen.
    Groovy!
BTW, me never imagined taking pictures with a phone until that feature came along.

Yeah - the vase was great - but reminded me of more than one.......and I work/worked in telecom and had one of the first "one touch speed dial" units......thought I was with Cap'n Kirk!!!

      My exes too.
As for the phone, my dad was not going to spend the extra $ for push buttons and a lighted keypad... different times and different values.

Marvelous, OUC! Pure entertainment this morning with a bit of messaging thrown in! Great collection. Nearly spewed my coffee with the Gorn behind the wheel of the Batmobile and Kirk in "Oh My God!" position, LOL! So, THAT's where bass players come from?!

    Thank you!

Aeronica, just noticed the P&W shield on your profile. My Dad worked for P&W at the Southington Ct plant. I think he started at the East Hartford plant in 1950.

That's great! I put that logo on my Jeep spare tire cover nice and big. Made a t-shirt of it too.

I worked for 34 years in the building in KC, MO that was built for P&W to build aircraft engines in during WW2. It was huge (several acres) and was built in one year. Today you couldn't get the permits in a year.

Yes, we had amazing capabilities prior to the age of regulations. The stunning thing is that these buildings and products cannot be reproduced these days,( minus the modern day improvements in materials, obviously.)
The knowledge and expertise died with those that created these things.

I frequently am frustrated that we were able to get a man on the moon in less than 10 years, but it is taking us 50 to get back there. Recently watched 2001: a Space Odyssey, and was amazed that, in the mid-60s people thought that by 2001 we would be headed to Jupiter. We still haven't even made it to Mars.

I think a big part of it is our risk-averse culture. In the 60s, it was accepted that big adventures carried some significant risks. These days you can't buy a car without $20k of "safety" equipment (most of which would be unnecessary if drivers paid attention to driving).

Going to the moon isn't much of a challenge, we saw what we originally needed to find. (evidence of the sun's micro nova. Found it on mars with the robotic vehicles.
Mars is harder to get to, asteroids and radiation belt with humans on board. Musk might solve that problems.

          Did you work for P&W?

My Dad was very proud of the work on the engine for the SR-71. (tech that can't be duplicated these days.)
unofficially caught doing over 3,000 mph.
I remember my printing company printing a mag add stating that the SR-71 flying from NY to LA arrived 3 hours before it left. (given the time difference)

Got to sit in the cockpit of an SR71 - looking at the gages, all analog - and the airspeed indicator showing mach3 on an anlog face. That was very spectacular!! And the line from "The Space Cowboys" where Tommy Lee Jones (Hawk) is explaining how when it is on the ground it leaks fuel and looks like a duck, going from side to side..;.and then you get it up in the air and it just all comes together....
Back when we could build anything.....and do anything.....
And it was taken out of service....because it cost too much. But it still cannot be replicated.....

            .....sigh.....
