I do not like pledging allegiance period. since 2008, what exactly am I pledging to? My country, the US, no longer adheres to the rule of law or the Constitution. so keep me pledging to a nation that does not adhere to the US Constitution? no thank you there is nothing scarier than an arena of 10000 people mindlessly reciting words in unison and pledging their allegiance and patriotism to a flag, not a Constitution
A pledge is a solemn vow. It is something done out of full belief in what it says, as a need to prove to yourself and others that you believe it.
A pledge is not supposed to be something you don't believe in. And it definitely is not something that is to be repeated so many, many times that it becomes muscle memory.
This shows why the Emperor wants to start the indoctrination in pre-school so this doesn't happen any more. The horror of a student refusing to pledge allegiance to a foreign country. Call the swat team immediately.
Oops! I just snorted some of my 2-liter pop out of my nose!
Failing a student for not swearing allegiance to a foreign flag and country?? Quick, get the bonfire and a large stake to tie this kid up to! WTH?!?! I don't understand this place at all anymore.... Personally, I might have slapped the teacher, but that's me. I slapped a guy in my 11th grade English class for ceaselessly talking dirty to me. I warned him 3 times, then SMACK! I didn't get in trouble either :-)
