Nurses' strike underlines importance of guarding health, self-care, nutrition

Where will you be when you need help and there's no organized medical health care (other than your own self-help)? Better to take that care in advance so there's no critical need. What if nurses just "go Galt?"

I am a doctor, my wife is a nurse. We both quit medicine, and refused the gene therapy shot. I don't miss it. We stay away from "healthcare" as much as possible.

That's funny, over 20yrs ago, I had a great doc, his wife was a Nurse, and he stopped taking insurance, and dropped his malpractice insurance as the premiums were insane. I paid him out of pocket, and he could usually see me same day! It was worth it, and it was NOT even that much.

He told me his wife moved to Canada, and was working there, looking for a house. They were done here in America. And about 18 months later he was gone.

I often wonder how he is doing. But I think he likely retired completely by now. I sure would have.

My wife was a floor nurse for a decade or so and then a cardiac nurse and finally an OR nurse. After thirty years she walked away when she saw the industry move away from patient care toward profit and patient management.

After all I’ve seen I will never trust the health industry again, even if it means dying from toe fungus. I’m fortunate to have a nurse beside me.

Is it better to pray hard? Which Bible? Why are you using caps? Don't Jesus and the Holy Ghost sit?

I don't buy into Organized Religions, because even trivial amounts of research shows that they ALTERED the texts. Pushing us to monotheism, etc.

My FAITH, and I cannot explain it, comes from knowing that I have an inner spirit/soul, that we are all connected, that I have a spirit guide (or guides), and this, somehow, is not my first rodeo.

Whether you choose to go the meditation (grounding/quieting) route, or the prayer route, pretty much all the studies on Prayer and Meditation show a discernable impact.

As an Engineer, I can tell you that Prayer and Meditation both have the ability to help heal you, simply by measurably changing your sympathetic, para-sympathetic response.

Finally, as ALL medicine is confounded by the PLACEBO effect (simply a belief, if you will), and that effect is approximately 1/3rd... It is the CHEAPEST, most effect, side-effect free approach you could count on.

And... That's regardless which book you choose. Our minds are very powerful. Powerful enough to make us sick, keep us sick, or help us heal.

So, for me, I read the word "God" as either Love or All Spiritual Beings.
I think: Stand with Love, or Stand with All Spiritual Beings resonates without the (Culturally Assigned hatred for all references to an ideal (God) that we will always fail to achieve, which is designed to keep us humble, and yet trying to be better!)

Thanks, and I think you're right, faith cannot be explained. Also, I think introspection is essential and terribly underused. Ayn Rand created the science of psychoepistemology to study the relationship between the conscious mind and the subconscious. In that context, the spiritual side of our identity as human beings includes the emotional reactions, ranging from exaltation to misery, to the physical world and our social relationships. Alexandra York in her book Soul Celebrations does a much better job of explaining this.

Two of my best friends work in medicine: one as the head nurse of a thoracic care ICU (post-op for surgery) and the other as one of the head accountants. The nurse is dismayed with the lack of care coming primarily from the administration side. (The doctors and nurses he works with are overwhelmingly patient-focused.)

An interesting piece came out in the alternative press here in my town highlighting the fact that the previous hospital presidents made less than $250,000 per year while the current one makes $18 million annually. Even my accountant friend confirmed that the focus any more isn't about patient care, but about money. With the hospital administrators all belonging to a group called IACI, we've also seen significant industry movement with most of the independent offices closing up and the doctors practically being forced onto these healthcare group payrolls. (A large factor here - especially in OB/GYN is litigation and liability.)

So it shouldn't come as any surprise that the takeover of the healthcare industry by government and its private sycophants is complete and why the COVID response by organized healthcare was so disastrous in terms of patient care results. The administrators are the ones in charge, now, not the doctors. The administrators are the ones controlling whether or not the doctors get paid and which medical protocols will be followed. We have entered the Administrative State of Medicine. It will only be a matter of time before life/death decisions (euthanizations, denial of care, etc.) are taken away from doctors completely.

FWIW, if you take a twisted look at what's going on.
We are ultimately encouraging Police to step down.
Nurses to step down, Doctors to step down.

I have to wonder if this isn't their plan. Replace cops with killer robots, nurses with robots, doctors with AIs, and see where this goes, while telling us "What choice did we have?"

I no longer see most things that gain momentum in the wrong direction as NOT being somewhat directed!

I am a veterinarian and thank my stars I avoided human medicine. Sadly my field is going down the same path. Corporations are buying up veterinary practices ( ie Mars Candy Bars owns VCA) and dictating patient care. Fortunately they will have no interest in me given I am an oral surgeon for animals. When I retire hopefully my resident will take over the practice. If I were in human medicine I would probably last twenty minutes before I gave the upstairs managers the middle finger.
