I saw this on Gab yesterday. In my opinion, The man was justified up to the 4th bullet. The crook was down and immobile, the thread was ended. To shoot the rest of the bullets into the prone and motionless man, particularly the one after he removed the crooks weapon out of reach (not that the guy was moving) is more on par with execution than self defense.

I'm vehemently in support of the second amendment and all for self protection. I understand in the heat of the moment emotions causing someone to go beyond what is expected. Still the police have legitimate cause to question this guy and maybe file charges, perhaps murder.

Guess I didn't see the whole story. According to your explanation, especially if the weapon was beyond reach and the thug wasn't moving, the additional rounds appear gratuitous. Still, if someone had threatened by life, taken shots at me, I would want to make damn sure that person didn't get a second chance--ever.

There were 8 shots fired intotal. I agree, you put me and mine in jeopardy you're fortunate to survive. Even so, once down 4 more rounds were fired, last one to the head....

the simple basic issue is this

those we trusted to protect us have not only failed, they clearly seem to be working for the criminals

      expect more over-reactions
