woke crap
I swear that there will be red and blue boxes of Cheerios on the shelf soon. People will be boycotting the other color if it's not available.
"But if Tolkien didn't write it, I wouldn't trust it." True for me as well. I wouldn't expect as good a story as Tolkien could tell, but the effects can still be wonderful and it doesn't have to be loaded with subtle or blatant left wing political messaging.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed to me Tolkien's works were steeped in Eurocentric history, myth, and lore, which gave it a certain appeal. Wokeness erases or greatly minimizes that theme - of course, one of the goals of wokeness is to erase or demean anything "white European" so no surprise here.
They almost ruined the new series, Picard but pulled it out slightly, enough so it is tolerable to watch, same thing with Pike/pre Kirk, StarTrek. The tie in's to the original StarTrek series is compelling enough to make you want to watch...I've only displayed my bow finger once or twice...
Picard turns out to be a gem, while Pike is unpredictable like the original S.T. series.
Right in the beginning, when the written paragraphs of the story starts rolling back into the screen, as it did in the first Star Wars film, immediately it was obvious, "blah blah blah blah...#RESISTANCE..." Hashtag resistance. I could have left the theater immediately. Ahh but I had to hang out with those two biotches.
“ I would say the script sounded like it was written by a drunk middle-schooler, but that would be an insult to both alcohol and middle-schoolers. Every line is a tired-out cliché, stolen from a bad movie and mashed together with all the verbal dexterity of a crack-addled ferret. I cannot in good conscience describe the plot, because the word "plot" has nothing to do with this fulminant disaster. I've had nightmares that made more sense than whatever abomination of the English language this is.”
