AS 3 Producer's Event is on the books!

I had a great time at the event! The movie is, in my opinion, the best of the three and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many of the Gulch Producers. I also met people responsible for the film like Scott Desapio, Harmon Kaslow, John Aglialoro,. Alex Webb, David Kelley, James Manera, and a host of others. Thanks to rockymountainpirate, I now know what DB and K Halling look like! I got great pictures of several cast members including Kris Polaha and Laura Regan. One photo is attached to this post.

    Btw, I did confirm with both John and Harmon they do plan on seriously looking into doing a miniseries whereby much more of the book can be retained. They first need to complete getting AS3 distributed and all of the follow-up work done. I am encouraged by what I heard and plan on helping out wherever I am able. Movies were always a difficult venue for Atlas Shrugged because of both its length and the depth of its content. I think that the present movies are enough to whet the appetite of those intellectualy curious enough to read the book and to prepare the way for something much more comprehensive.

      ...to expand on my review: even the last third of the book contains a LOT of content so the pacing is really fast with narration used to fill in some of the blanks. They also had to take a bit of artistic license to work around some of the things that had to be omitted (Project X was a big one. It was only hinted at.) All in all, I think that they did a good job. With a miniseries the pacing can be slowed and much more content included. I was pleasantly surprised that more of the philosophy was included in part three although, of course, it still had to be abridged in order to fit the allotted time.

      As much work went into doing the three movies, I have always felt that a miniseries would have been the best showcase for such an epic as AS. Maybe in two years? ish?

        Yep, maybe in another five years, if the economy holds up...

        Remembering some landmark miniseries like The Stand and many that followed, I imagined a TV series long ago.

        With the old rule of thumb of 100 pages per hour, we could be watching a 'series' of 13-one-hour-episodes, which is today's 'long season' for popular shows.

        And boy, would I sign up for the autographed, boxed Blu-Ray edition, too! (or whatever we'll be storing that stuff on by then... :)

        Too soon for a timeline. There's still a lot of work on AS3 (distribute, DVDs, Blu-ray, among others) to do. I'd guess that this website would be one of the first to hear about new activities. Stay tuned.

    Sometime in the future, the possibility of a premium all day event at a theater restaurant. Start with lunch. Show #1. Snack break. Show #2. Dinner Break. Finish up with #3. Possible adult libations. It would be a way to keep the A.S. movies alive and if promoted properly, might even attract some of the real Atlases who have never been exposed to Rand.

    I need to come to the boards more often! And I agree - this is the best of the three. Herculean task of taking the complexity of ASIII and making it comprehensible and comprehensive. It made me want to go back and reread Part 3 again!

    Kudos, props to the producers, David Kelley, etc. And I'll always treasure my photo with John Galt. :-)
