    If only the author wasn't assuming that fake climate change requires
    electric vehicles to replace petro fueled vehicles.
    Let the Chinese build a lot of factories to make products that are not needed.
    Without enough generating capacity and a system to distribute the power -
    which will cost more than establishing a Mars colony - the electric car will
    not be in demand. Only an elite few will buy them.
    The only thing that the looters are trying to accomplish is to end the era
    of individual transportation, and thereby establish easier control over the serfs.
    This is the path to the hunger games.

      There's a Rush song Red Barchetta, about the future, when cars are outlawed. There's a Farm, where people can have gasoline cars tucked away but only use them on a little farm. His Uncle has preserved for him a red Barchetta in a barn. He goes joyriding across the countryside and Two Gleaming Alloy Aircars try to stop him. He speeds back to the Farm over a bridge too small for the State Cars. Back the Farm, to dream with my Uncle by the fireside...

    What I want to know is the cost per mile (everything included) gasoline vs electric for the consumer. Assume the vehicle is retained for 200K miles. My suspicion is that gasoline vehicles will always be cheaper. Maybe someone in the Gulch who has access to all the costs can crunch the numbers

      's not worth crunching. Tesla drivers won't like it when presented with those numbers. My friend has one. He loves it, I drove with him. I commented about the fact that coal is being burned in order to charge this car. He was silent. He said, If I had a nickel for every comment like that I'd be rich. I said, you are rich. He said, oh yeah, and we laughed. It's an awesome car as far as technology goes, but it won't be accessible for all.

    solar is a pipe dream, like wind for running a REAL economy

      Assuming for the sake of argument that global warming was caused by human activity, the entire industrial chain for solar energy causes more CO2 than just burning hydrocarbons!!! NUTS!!!
