One of My Favorite Biden Clips
Ever since this first came out I feel like I've been the only one jumping up and down over this. Seems a little more applicable now, given current events. If you watch Putin's speech from (if I remember correctly 2/24) I think he's indirectly talking about this kind of thing. Of course this is concerning to him. To many of us. For starters I'm pissed that so much money is taken from the American middle class for this kind of corruption and this type of influence. This isn't right.

One of the best things the Russians could do is to unmask all this corruption in Ukraine and make it public knowledge on the world stage. I can see two problems with that: 1) I'm sure the shredding and burning of evidence has been going on since Putin's troops stepped off (not to mention the hiding/laundering of the loot) and, therefore, the longer it takes for the Russians to "get there" the less likely any evidence will survive, and 2) the West is systematically closing down all information coming from Russia and has embarked on a very focused campaign to discredit or ridicule any information that squeezes through the cracks of censorship and blockage. Russian reporting of corruption either will not be heard/seen in the West or tossed aside as Russian disinformation, which a large swath of our population is already conditioned to comply with.
Now, if I were a really really cynical SOB, which sometimes I am, I would say the initiation of all the "help the Ukrainians" drives began with not the Ukrainian people in mind, but to buy time to complete tasks 1 and 2 above before the Russians get the whole enchilada. Now the drive has a life of it's own. Yes, it will slow the Russian advance, but I expect they will win anyway only with a much higher body count (on both sides) and more burned out Ukrainian cities.
All of this corruption hoopla may be a side show to the big show, but I believe it is one of the driving factors that got us where we are. I still say it was a mistake for Putin to invade Ukraine and I suspect by now he is thinking the same thing, but he's all in right now. The biggest task before him now, even if he has gone crazy, is to avoid a general engagement with NATO, which appears to be desperately trying to get into the fray and making it look like Russia's fault.
We the peons will never really know all that went on and is going on except for what "Big Brother Oceania" wants us to know.
