Me dino has three DVDs. All add up to two Christmas gifts with a birthday gift in between given to me by my Brother Joe.
This led to me doing research about Ayn Rand, buying the novel and stumbling upon this internet Gulch over eight years ago.

I saw Part 1, on a BlockBuster rental, and was hooked. I had never read Atlas Shrugged, so I ran out and bought the book.

By that time, Part II had already been in theaters and gone, so I bought that DVD, as well.

When Part III came to theaters, the wife and I went to a showing in Spokane, along with about 20 other viewers. That was followed up with yet another DVD purchase.

Since I spent so much time telling others about the "wonders" of Atlas Shrugged, I purchased the Blu-ray set for myself and used the DVD set as a loaner.

If you don't already have the third episode, don't bother. It's terrible. Holes in the plot you could drive the Taggart Transcontinental through.

I think we all know AS will never have broad appeal, will never get a proper cinematic treatment because the market is not there. A good version, an accurate version would have to be a labor of love. This would be a hell of a challenge because we Objectivists do not do things for free!

Thank you all for the replies. I am sure I did buy Part 1 & 2 but have to see if I did buy part 3, Who is John Galt. I've loaned the set out to numerous friends and it has been a while and I might have all three.

Would these be the source of the YouTube clips I have seen? Because not impressed. What I see in my head when I read that wonderful story cannot be easily or cheaply translated to cinema or TV.

I watched the first Part 1 and enjoyed it a lot. When part 2 came out most of the original characters had changed and it was not as good as the first. I have to go through my vast DVD collection and see if I do have the third DVD. I sure do agree the series would be very difficult and very expensive to produce given the length of the actual book which is a great read but a very long and arduous read.

They changed the cast again for part 3. Not only that but. . . you know how the characters in part 2 looked 20 years older than in part 1? In part 3 they kind of split the difference; they look 10 years older than part 1, 10 years younger than part 2. Anyone who watched the movies without having read the book must have thought they got the order wrong.

Hold up due to difficulty in translating into English, or any language usable for communication, from the fantasies flowing out of most of the media.

Note there was a fair amount of marketing when the DVDs came out. Especially for the first one. There were multiple versions, most varying by the "added features" included. There was a Freedom Works version, an Atlas Society version, a Reason Foundation version, etc.

The third episode was done terribly (unfortunately). If they had the $$, they should have kept the cast from the first one. Oh well. At this point, you can just as easily look at the current main stream media to see what happens with collectivism

The YouTube clips feature thumbnails with two obviously different actresses. One is distinctly innocent looking and the other has a tight sort of serious expression. I took the former to be Dagney and the latter to be Lillian. And now I am to believe these are both Dagney? If I am mistaken someone correct me.

Mystery solved. I do have all three DVD movies but I was missing the final #3 in my collection because I have #1 & 2 in Blue Ray and #3 is just the regular DVD format and was in a different section of my collection.
