Stopped by Goodwill today to pickup a cast iron skillet. Goodwill could not take credit card transactions because their CC transactions were down. I was paying cash anyway, it didn't impact me.

Also, the two booketores I'm responsible for at work were unable to take CC transactions today because our PAX systems (CC swipers) had internet issues connectivity tot he PAX systems proprietary secured network.

I just read the whole article and see no proof that GFM bolstered Bitcoin in any way. Bitcoin is a currency (fiat, IMHO) and GFM is a potential place to spend it. What GFM just did (or attempted to do) was as if you ordered a book from Amazon and the folks at Amazon decided they didn't like the book you ordered so they still took your money to send a pair of pants to someone else they think deserves it more than you.

Your argument here is largely one of preferred platform simply due to politics - not one about the relative merits of the currency itself. A question which would make the discussion more relevant is simply this: how many vendors in Ottawa accept BitCoin?
