Musically... As a guitar-based Hard-Rock fanatic I'm liking the rhythm guitar lots, but the vocal - though it avoids the fingernails-on-chalkboard deal-killer '90s relic that is the Cookie Monster Vocal Distortion Processor - is almost comical in its macho-profundo roar. Nonetheless, kudos to the band for hammering this out without sounding too preachy. I would've totally dug this as a teenager with a head full of quickly-solidifying principles and a thirst for all things Square Wave. And at 1:31 we see that the man has positively excellent taste in guitar engineering: The real-deal Gibson Flying V (guitar porn - :drools:)
As someone whose love of Hard Rock remains undiminished - also as an Objectivist - I've become an advocate for that rarity of rarities, the niche of "benevolent sense-of-life Hard Rock." Stuff like UFO, Ronnie Montrose (RIP,) the Scorps, pretty much everything Michael Schenker, "Genesis"-era Light Bringer, the ShakaLabbits, Muvidat (which is 'Labbits reborn, kinda,) Tears of Tragedy (mixed malevolent-benevolent premises but Haruka-chan Can Do No Wrong,) Galneryus, Egoist, Doll$Boxx (Koga-san rules,) Daida Laida... And of course Big Ass from Thailand - do a YT search for "Gu Mai Ru," and เชิดสิงโต ("Cherd Singto,") or if you want the Full Monty, copy/paste "Big Ass HormonesTheSeries" at YT to hear "Daen Neremit" live at the 2012 Big Mountain Festival. And if you still finance Netflix, go watch "Hormones" - that's the whole cast in front row, BTW.
Anyhow, thanks for the link, tohar1.
