It would be nice if you could include a link to the article you are referencing. I found this in a search:

Gov Abbot is on the right track here, IMHO!

I don't get it. What's innovative about arresting lawbreakers? Isn't that what he is supposed to be doing? (I do realize that's not what they would get under Biden's control).

Also, that article is about 2 months old, so....is he doing this now? What is he referring to here?

"but because this is not going to be aggravated trespass, they're going to be spending a half a year in jail, if not a year in jail, as well as other action that I will be announcing next week."

That would have been the first/second week of April. Did he announce it, and if so, what was it? I was busy moving then and NOTHING penetrated my consciousness except how to get settled. It was a mess. I am really happy to be back home in Texas but nothing about it feels like "home" yet. Occasionally I wake up in the night, thinking "WHERE is it I am now?" and it takes a while to locate myself mentally. Not to ramble too much but I am beginning to understand the need birds (and other animals like whales, for example) have for a magnetic location system. Mine's not settled yet.

It's not necessarily innovative. Abbot is picking a fight over jurisdiction and daring Biden's Feds to take it to court. The Federal Government has the responsibility to police border issues. That they refuse to carry out their responsibilities gives the States cause to sue the Feds for enforcement and possibly get the Courts to acknowledge their rights to enforce Federal law when the Feds won't.

Me, too. It's one thing to argue that the Federal Government has sole authority to set immigration rules - which it does via explicit decree in the Constitution. It's quite another to prohibit the State from assisting with enforcement of those Federal Laws when the Feds refuse to carry out their duties.

The inmate dietary staple for every meal should be those mashed refried beans scooped out of cans. Each Sunday at noon that comes with one EET MO CHIKEN taco and just one jalapeno pepper will be added inside.
Also tell the left GOYA will get some business.

Arapio used to use donated day old bread and cheaply purchased slightly green molding bologna.

During the late 90s me dino often worked a prison's back gate tower and learned the following~~Inmates outside on a work detail held a slice of cheese on a stick over a fire during a lunch break just to see what would happen.
That slice of so-called cheese did not melt. Instead, it turned into a nasty brown glob that withdrew into itself.
Needful research is required to name the brand of that so-called cheap cheese for Gov. Abbott's prisons.

Old strategy, but it would be effective. The intention is to negate the sending money home aspect of things. The reason it may not work now is that if they bypass Texas they're pretty much home free with this fraudulent administration. If all the border states adopted this position it could work, provided the fedgov didn't step in and let them all go or bus they using tax dollars to other parts of the nation (Yes, that has happened)

The Constitution DELEGATES BORDER SECURITY to the federal government.

Should the federal government ACTIVELY REFUSE, the the Border States Governors HAVE ABSOLUTE POWERS OVER THEIR INTERNATIONAL BORDERS
They can request National Guard Troops from internal States if necessary.

AZ did the same thing under obama, but they FAILED TO SHOW ACTIVE REFUSAL on the part of the Feds.
It should have been a no-brainer, but the 'scotus' at the time was all in for the non citizen colored guy.

This time Abbot is NOT LIKELY to make any mistakes.

NM AZ and CA should also be performing in a Like Manner.
