The big meeting of legislators regarding gun control, etc. occurred today in Hartford, CT. It is being said on Facebook that the NRA had plants to heckle people, and that a father of a Newtown victim was heckled. NOT TRUE. I know this because my husband was there. Just goes to show what the left's agenda involves. Just thought I would put the facts out there.

    I was there as well and I can tell you that people were getting very exasperated that the gun grabber group had co-opted the earlier part of the meeting with unscheduled speakers which they managed to shoehorn in without the prior knowledge of one of the Reps *running* the meeting.
    These unscheduled speakers included The State Police doing a "Guns 101" presentation where they handled just about every firearm incorrectly, including holding a rifle so that the barrel was pointed directly at *MY* head.
    It also included two families who lost children in Newtown, one of whom managed to work it so that he spoke TWICE. They were not given time limits and openly advocated the abolishment of the Second Amendment although they claimed that they supported it.

    So, yeah, people were a little miffed by it.

      I'm glad to hear that you were there. My husband said the same to me. He was in the gallery as an observer, to get the temperature of the crowd.

      He also told me that metal detectors were installed just for that day, in case people brought their guns. As if! He said it was a really insulting gesture meant for the second ammendment supporters. You can't enter a courthouse or state building, not that I'm aware of, with a gun.

      I wouldn't bow down to their level. I do believe if you tell the truth, there is nothing they can attack you with, although these people seem to make up crap to destroy a person. Kinda why the flies hang out there..lol !

        Exactly! If the NRA really did something like that, the debate would be over. Now apparently, there's an editorial piece by a New Englander now living in TX, who said he's absolutely pro gun. He had his mind changed because of Katrina. He said he was evacuating with his family and a few thousand dollars in cash. He said he kept thinking that the only thing he could protect his family with was a book. His 16 year old daughter is learning to shoot, too.

            Sad part is, it took a disaster to teach him what is important for Freedom, but glad that he learned what can happen when you are in a situation where you can not defend yourself against the enemy, whoever that is.

            Unfortunately, it appears that the meeting was just something that had to be done to get to their goal of taking your rights. I've been to many of those meetings, their minds are already made up and they don't care how you feel, because they know so much more than you. Our state is doing the same thing.

    No, the NRA shows up at meetings and gives FACTS about the gun control bill, they show true concern over the needless deaths of children in schools. They also talk about the lives that are saved by legal gun owners, about the Constitution and what they are going to do to preserve those rights for us. Is your husband a legislator in CT ?

      No he isn't, but I will just say he's an interested party. I can't say where he works because it could put him and his job in jeopardy. He is in the firearms industry.

      There were speakers still going at 10:00 last night. Pro and con. We shall see what comes of this.
