I watched the 1960 election with some interest - I was still too young to vote but was intrigued by a Catholic running against the former VP. Word was out that the election was 'stolen' by Richard Daly, the Democratic mayor of Chicago who flipped IL. Looking back on how that turned out is instructive. JFK as we know won and then was assassinated and the VP, LBJ took over. LBJ was a great friend of the military-industrial complex Ike warned us about. He mobilized young men via the draft and escalated the conflict in Vietnam to a full blown war which was highly profitable for military suppliers such as Boeing and General Dynamics. Over 58,000 mostly young men who did not have the political connections to avoid the draft, died in that war. It appears that we now have another stolen election where in a apparently senile old man is elected with a fully Communist VP ready to take us to who knows where as soon as he is killed or declared incompetent. I hope it is not another long drawn out war with such tragic loss of life. (On personal note I am of the age of the people who were conscripted to die in that war. I 'voluntarily enlisted' to avoid being drafted and was very lucky in not being shot at. However I lost a couple of friends and a brother to that disaster.) Will history repeat?
