suicide rates adolescents

I have had it with school closures. This article is from July and has gotten worse. When one considers the ridiculously low rate of serious illness in adolescents from covid -19 we are losing our minds keeping schools closed. IN the LAST WEEK ALONE-I HAVE HAD 8 OF MY PATIENTS HOSPITALIZED FOR SUICIDE OVERDOSE ATTEMPTS. In the last 3 weeks I have 14 attempts in my practice alone. Sorry just a little worked up. My staff was actually worried about me on Friday. Any state information from your areas that you can provide I am working on a project to expose this REAL health crisis for teen and preteens. Thank you

Just had a 13 year old child commit suicide in my upper middle class neighborhood of 42 houses. 0 Covid Deaths here. I have no idea of the circumstances......but I am pretty sure he wasn't in a motorcycle accident. [A reference to a death in florida that was ascribed to covid]

Unfortunately, many people often cannot see consequences in the future of actions now....hence we get stupid young people wanting socialism. Also people don't understand statistics. The anti-vax people are in this column. Yes.....children occasionally do siken or die from vaccines. A hell of a lot more used to die from polio, small pox, and go knows what else. Sucks if it is your kid that dies from the Vaccine.....but millions of kids used to die from those other things.

The cure can’t be worse than the d8sease. Actions have consequences. These students and young people need a positive structure for personal growth. Doom and gloom with cognitive dissonance and social media esteem is a dangerous mix.

The democrat mayors and governors have certainly got a lot of blood on there hands, don't they?

Watching them creating The State Science Institute is one reason for my sig:

Atlas Shrugged was supposed to be a warning, Not A Newspaper!

This may be a small analogy, but I somewhat understand the mechanism at play here. My wife (Thank God for her!) and I have been hunkered down since March and are playing by all the rules regardless of how stupid I think some of them are. It's starting to bother me. I quit smoking years ago, but lately I've really been entertaining the idea of going out to get a box of cigars and chain smoke the whole thing even if I have to stand out in the rain and chill to do it. Like I said above, thank God for my wife, because she keeps me from doing something that stupid.

That is awful. Child abuse by governors. Our central Ohio schoools have been open with busses and packs HS student parking lot. In Columbus, another matter, grandkis still on lockout, online only. Driving daughter nuts, as she sees how little they are larning, and they are getting crancky. The whole state is on a dangerous mask mandate, even schools and restraurants at part capacity or no inside at all. I have sent two mask studes to the governor, but guess he cannot read. Since the mandate, the cases of COVID19 have tripled, in line with about a week after the mandate. Masks are not the answer, and can sprad the virus. It is so frustrating. Little kids in WalMart shopping, looking with big eye at all teh masks people. Not the usual interaction. My grandchild is hearing imparied, and mask make lip reding impossible, frustrating.

I am so sorry for your plight.
The "lockdowns" only exacerbate an underlying despair that has been growing for decades. When Alvin Toeffler wrote Future Shock he foresaw. The daughter of a friend is one of these casualties. I informally council four others at present, my father being one, against hopelessness and despair. To not participate in another's despair.......

Have you read The Hunger Games? These are some of the faces of the children of war.

Thanks kddr22 -- The "cure" is far worse than the disease. The few people in charge that care have no wisdom. Virtually all of the rest crave only power. And the "lame stream" media are out and out monsters.

Think back. When we were young adults would we have put on a mask and not mixed with our buddies? We would have gone about our usual madness of partying. No suicides then!
