Where is a Galt's Gulch?

I am about to retire.
Leaving the madness of Seattle, WA is appealing.
But where to go?
Any suggestions of a town that resembles Galt's Gulch?

I’ve started to investigate the possibility of buying (for scrap price) a former offshore oil rig in international waters, to become a sort of “Rapture” (fictional underwater city from the BioShock series). There are a number of former atolls the Bureau of Land Management wishes to part with as well, some of which were never used for atomic testing and are thus relatively pristine. The idea being to create a haven for banking, tech, medical and research where the capacity of the mind is not limited by frivolous regulation.

      My thoughts with Pitcairns Island is it is big enough.
      If Gulchers started buying property there they could take over in about 20 years. Then they could "ask" for independence from New Zealand.

  I'm so fascinated with this idea. There are whole websites dedicated to the details of making seasteading work. Blueseed tried to do it with a boat. They failed, but someone will succeed eventually.

I still display rail bookends proudly.
I just finished move as of end of March....Minneapolis to Eastern WI.
Set up shop complete and spend most of my time living.

  Hmmm.....How far east in WI? Kenosha? I hope not. "If" he wants primarily conservative viewpoints, I lived in Texas for years and now Tennessee. Both decidedly conservative especially the smaller towns.

    I'm in a very conservative manufacturing powerhouse area. Central WI is so diverse with small business that it keeps cost of living based mostly on tangible product. Kenosha is an extension of Chicago as far as most of us are concerned. They're learning a lesson right now. Milwaukee is still very balanced as compared to most other metro areas. My guts tell me WI will go red over this next election...practical folk when the rubber meets the road. and then there is Madison....Ick!
    The balance of population to landmass 3.8 mil to 2 mil rural to urban....these are good ratios today.
    
    Lived in Lubbock years ago...loved the people. Especially out in farm or ranch country.

        Only real skiing is in Upper Mich. Pretty flat over here. The sailing is great.
        I have folks out side of Kallispell and Missoula...they love it. Had a great time in Cody WY last fall. Awesome people met.

Might like my town. A group supposedly of BLM folks gathered at the City Hall but the Police were on the roof with weapons displayed. Group quickly disappeared.
