Tipping Servers

I really hate tipping. Actually, I hate that I am EXPECTED to tip no matter what kind of service I receive. Tipping should be voluntary not mandatory.
I get it. Servers don't make that much. But keep in mind if you chose to be a server your accepting the low pay. Don't expect other people to be obligated to tip you just because you chose a job with low pay.
I really hate tipping people who don't deserve it.

At the end of the day, servers are humans too. They make mistakes, they have good days and bad days, and they rely upon what they make at their job to support themselves and their families.
I generally tip 15% for good service. I've tipped as little as zero for crappy service and as much as 100% for truly extraordinary service. Keep in mind that without tips, servers would be paid more by default. Last I looked they only make about $2.35 wages - the rest being made up in tips. Would you really prefer that 15% be automatically added to your bill?
Not me. I prefer having control over being able to penalize poor service and reward good service as a matter of social convention.
BTW, tips should not be taxed (even under the current system). Why? Because tips are not "wages". Tips are GIFTS.
