"Elite" Schools
Recently, a close friend of mine, Leonard Rachmiel, died of Parkinson's. He was an outstanding child psychologist and the following is based on a discussion we had about Ivy League schools.
"They're all the same. Holding pens for for spoiled rich brats. They'll reject smart, qualified American kids but accept some Afghan who will turn out to be a Taliban spokes woman. I doubt if she was captain of her U.N. debate team. Her idea of what was creative was getting pregnant, having an abortion, and videotaping it. She then repeated thehorror show like a Saturday matinee, come one, come all.We are living in a corkscrew world, more twisted every day." Leonard's daughter was a Yale graduate, "I have nothing against Yale" he contends, "what I never could figure out was why my daughter wanted to go there. When I visited her, I discovered as I attended some of her classes that I was listening to puffed-up fools yakking about nothing. These elit institutions resemble junior high school more than a lauded university. Insecure idiots who can't feel popular unless everyone else is an outcast. My kids could get into a dozen different first class schoolsbut she had to obsess on Yale." "Kids will do that" was my only comment. "Be Stupid and obnoxious?" "Trying to differentiate themselves." I replied. "you are fortunate that she graduated when she did. "The Ivy League is embracing socialist ideology to the point of becoming ridiculous. It's getting so that there are very few prestige Institutions that are worth buffalo spit." Looking sadly at me he said with resignation in his voice, "I should have paid more attention. What about your boys?" I got lucky, they're 20 years older than your girls so the left leaning disease wasn't as prevalent or strident. Conservative Capitalist were allowed to lecture without being hassled.
The sad thing is that my friend pretended to be pleased with his indoctrinated daughter. He said that he would die before he would hurt her. And he did.

If anything, my students got better instruction than Ivy League students, because I spent the 1980s and 1990s in entrepreneurial ventures. I was better prepared to shares stories from the trenches than a graduate student with a marginal grasp of spoken English or a life-time academic with no real-world experience.
As I told my students, next time Ellsworth Manfredjin St. John IV trots out his diploma from Haavaad and tries to make you feel bad about your degree from the North-Central campus of Southeastern State University, remind him that no alumnus from your alma mater has ever been the CEO of a Wall Street bank, when it crashed so badly that it almost destroyed the economy of the Western Hemisphere.
So... Go Bobcats!
Under no circumstances would I hire a graduate of Harvard, Yale, or any other Ivy League school to wash poodles, much less manage money or make strategic decisions.
In CA it is Stanford that opens the doors of ANY corporation's hiring manger.
With a high concentration of Venture Capital in the area to fund the dozens of startups that crop up every year, they are the first to book Stanford MBAs. I try to avoid them in a high radius.
They are very predictable in their movements. In fact there was a scathing article in a local trade journal some time ago about their lethal practices., which is NOT to build a viable company but to make sure they do an IPO and look good on valuation which is a totally fictional assessment of what the company is worth.. Never mind they are not building any value.
The world's brightest apply, Admissions flacks skim off the cream along with the minimum necessary affirmative action applicants, and the Stanford University Dropout bullet point features prominently at the top of the individual's résumé.

Sad commentary of our times.
Have a free laugh on me bud: Memes up, just now.
I was so fortunate to have attended a very conservative, engineering university in the loveliest part of California. It was paradise for my mind...
Very sorry to hear of the passing of your friend.
The title IMO should be deletes schools.
"Insecure idiots who can't feel popular unless everyone else is an outcast."
Correct.
But a Yale degree on your resume still opens doors for high paying positions in corporate America.
