ABA Says Trump's 9th Circuit Nominee Not Qualified

What makes one "qualified" in the eyes of the ABA is fealty to social justice, not the law, and there appears to be some corruption/conflict of interest in the determination.
The comments section is also very revealing.

    The "9th Circus" needs a little help with understanding the Constitution. Based on the hue and cry of liberal organizations, I suspect that this nominee, along with the other Trump nominees, will provide that perspective of interpreting the intent of the Founding Fathers rather than melding their decisions along the lines of liberal desires.

    If Mr. VanDyke is not qualified to sit on the 9th Circuit Court, he should be the perfect fit! Considering the rulings which come from the Circus it would appear that most now serving there were also unqualified; that is to mean that they fit the liberal requirements for social engineering and legislation through judicial fiat and activism. And thanks to Harry Reid who changed the rules in the Senate to give Obama appointees carte blanc approval the Trump appointees enjoy that same benefit!

    you knooowww... In some circles, this is known as hearsay, and it is considered to be inadmissible.

    "...that Mr. VanDyke is arrogant, lazy, an ideologue, and lacking in knowledge of the day-today practice including procedural rules..."

    Apparently, this fits the descriptions of the Harvard Law School professors, on whom the composite character, Charles W. Kingsfield Jr., in The Paper Chase was based.

    "There was a theme that the nominee lacks humility, has an 'entitlement' temperament, does not have an open mind, and does not always have a commitment to being candid and truthful."

    In other words, "We don't like him."

    I serve as an expert witness in cryptocurrency cases. I can tell you from personal experience that being an Industrial Grade A ass is not disqualifying in the legal profession.

      The ABA did the same trick trying to block Kavanaugh as well.

      “The Committee conducts non-partisan, non-ideological, and confidential peer review of federal judicial nominees. The ABA’s rating for Judge Kavanaugh is not affected by Mr. [Robert] Carlson’s letter,” committee chairman Paul Mosley wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee."

      Mosley had more sense than Carlson.

      Sure. "Non partisan and non ideological."

      The ABA is a voluntary organization. It beats me how its voice is elevated to make or break somebody's career.
