"Horse trading is the oxygen of politics; it is how politicians are persuaded to care about things that otherwise would not make their radar."

Love him, hate him, or be indifferent to him, Orange Man is being held to a completely different standard from his predecessors'.

Trump: "Yo! Bibi! 'ow y' doin' I wuz jus' sittin' 'round wit nuthin' t'do, and I taught o' youze.

Netanyahu: Don! D Man! The D Meister! The Demonator!!! Wuzzup, bro!?!?

Trump: Ah, ah dunno. Did'yz like dat cookie recipe I sent y'z?

Netanyahu: I did. I did. Who wouldda taught dat th' 'vaporated milk would be so good wit th' chocolate chips? An' th' cardamom? Y' coulda knock' me over wit a feather!

Trump: So, um... Whaddya say... I could use y' cworner crimper? Melania and me's doin' some scrap bookin' wit Barron.

Netanhayu: Well, Mr. President-

Trump: NAH NEED T'BE S'FWAARML!!!

Netanyahu: Mr. President... dat would be [pauses] [inhales] a... quid pro quo.

"Alex Bruesewitz is the CEO of X Strategies, a political consulting firm in Washington, DC."

While I agree with the content of the article, I wonder if the author was paid as a political consultant to write it.
This is also not against any law and is the way business is done in the Dark Center.
It is also yet another bit of evidence that the federal government can't be trusted to do anything by the people and expansion of the unconstitutional power the federal government wields is the entire excuse for almost everything that the federal government does.
Removal of that power from the federal government should be the goal of every American who values freedom.

I think this article is accurate. It doesn't matter whether the author was paid to write it as a political consultant or not - it matter what it says and whether or not it is correct and rational. I think it is. I also think the "sheeple" are aware of it - at least in a sense as so many people say both the Dems and Repubs are the problem - doing that same kind of things and continuously increasing the size of government. Both sides want their stuff - for their constituents - (votes) and this kind of trading is how they get it. But it motivates ever growing government, regulations, spending, etc... This was what Ben Franklin meant when he said "When the people find that they can vote themselves money that will herald the end of the republic.". The people have learned - by politicians "buying" votes with offers to get them stuff. The answer is to properly educate people about what that means. The progressives figured it out a long time ago that an uneducated population was the way to achieve that. So now we have socialists coming out of the public schools in mass - willing to vote for the politicians offering the most "free stuff". A truly educated populace and a small government without the power to provide stuff from one person to another is the only solution. BUT - this kind of horse-trading is human nature and will always happen. It is the essence of trade - value for value. We just need to make sure the value is not in someone else's pocket.

"Quid pro quo" is how bills are passed in Congress.

Of course the sheeple has no idea that when a bill passes, it passed because the two sides each get something out of it. This has been the SOP for "lawmakers": ever since Congress was established.

Of course the left knows it but the sheeple doesn't. That is the sheeple which is hell-bent to impeach the president.

I think this is saying, "What's the point of having authority if you can't use to stay in power?" Or maybe it's saying that some use of authority to stay in power is unavoidable. In any case I couldn't disagree more. I don't have a solution to the problem, and I don't care at all about the particular accusations against President Trump. As a citizen, I think it's unacceptable. There must be a way to make institutions work and to hold people accountable. What we have now is so politicized. It seems like we need experts in governance to tweak the system. I'm afraid it will fall apart, which would be horrible because what we have is really good.
