In a more objectivist society I suspect “borders” would likely be part of private property.
But there is a lot of confusion about the terms "left" and "right" in politics.
Properly defined right wing means individualist and left wing means collectivist.
A lot of posters here are not Objectivists, but are conservatives, who are just religious collectivists and therefore on the left wing side of politics.
Regulating immigration is left wing. It's the old democrat position which today is being championed by republicans who simply have no other ideas, so resort to picking up those the left discards.
