Sometimes the truth can be viewed in a positive way for some, and negative for others. That's an example of subjective judgement, which is what the left gets confused with the truth itself.

When someone says "capitalists are greedy," my reaction is of course, because that's what makes capitalism work. Self interest is what keeps the economic engine running, but to the leftist, greed is a sin compared to the purity of altruism. From those contradictory perspectives, conservatives and objectivists perceive that greed, and capitalism, is good, while progressives perceive that capitalism is evil. That's one example how they arrive at differing views of the truth.

I believe Ayn Rand said, "Truth is the recognition of reality." But in any case , to speak of "your truth", or "my truth", or "Joe Blow's" truth, is nonsense. A statement is either true, or it is not. (Thus spake Arisotole; see in Metaphysica, or Organon.)

My favorite way of dealing with the "My Truth" idiots is to cut a power cord in half. Take the end that has the plug that goes into the wall and strip a couple of inches of insulation off the cut end of it. Tell the "My Truther" to grasp one stripped end in each half. Plug it in...

Trying to interpret truth is an attempt to make reality adapt to wishes instead of accepting what is real. Once reality is accepted for what it is then how to deal with reality to get desired outcome is possible. The only way to create an outcome based on wishes is to use violence to enforce the idea onto others to get them to advance the wishes of others.

Of course there are multiple versions of the truth! Why would you ever say something so discriminatory as "there is only one version of the truth"! I am shocked by your intolerance and racism. [/sarcasm]

When I hear "Let's agree to disagree". I cringe. I usually make a determination right at the beginning, whether or not I'm going to discuss something, depending on the person in front of me. Sometimes, the person is worth having the discussion with and sometimes they're not. If not, I don't even bother having the discussion, for I don't want to hear "let's agree to disagree". When both parties think they have their own truth and truth is relative, what happens to the actual truth? It's abandoned, like throwing a piece of trash in the garbage, by one or both parties.

Postmodernism was invented primarily because many have said something is the truth without empirical evidence proving such.
