Pentagon to present White House with plans to deploy up to 10K troops to Middle East: report
The Pentagon is set to present the White House with a request to deploy 10,000 troops to the Middle East, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
The move is reportedly to counter threats posed by Iran.
Officials told AP it’s not clear if the White House will approve sending all or just some of the requested forces.
A spokesperson for the DoD did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
This announcement appears to be aimed at the Iranian Government. Telling them we are considering deploying an additional 10K troops to middle east is not a welcome bit of new to them. Don't forget there are American troops to the east of Iran as well as west. Troops in Afghanistan could be shifted on relatively short notice to cover the eastern portions of Iran. Something the Iranians have worried about for a long tme.
