Politicians look to separate Chicago from Illinois to create 51st state
I can think of a few others cities that should be made into their own states.
1. New York City
2. Los Angles,
3. San Francisco
4. Denver
The states they currently bully about can use a rest from their hijacking all the state revenue and pass all the stupid laws.

What??? Democrats gerrymander voting districts to keep themselves in power? What will you try and convince of us next? Fire is hot? Grass is green?
(sarcasm font off)
So, let’s do this right after we eliminate the Electoral College, tear down the Wall and give illegal aliens the vote, tax the rich at 52%, give Medicare to everyone, give free college to everyone, give free surgery to anyone who believes he or she is a German Shepherd trapped in a human body………and find out where Obama’s academic records and true birth certificates were hidden………Oh yeah, and eliminate climate change.
Where is that sun on-off switch??
Welcome to The Gulch, designthis 86!.
We can call it “Utourbia” (utopian-urban). What an awesome change that would make!!!
Not that the dems will agree with what I am about to say, BUT, if they did, all that has to happen is that entry into the USA as an asylum victim either is denied until their case is heard and asylum is granted, or is forever barred if they come in illegally. We have enough legal immigrants here and we certainly dont need any illegal ones, no matter what "race" or "culture" they come from.
I don't know if just being separate states would do it. There would have to be states with more autonomy than they have now.
The problem with giving the cities the government they want is that it would give all of us the government they want.
And pretty universally cities are Democratic strongholds and very poorly run.
I meant with with limitations on travel and with the protections of the Constitution, but I suspect that's a dream. I don't think it would necessarily be a step backward. I think the concept of the nation state will disappear soon, and I'd hate to see the world totally homogenize.
"The problem with giving the cities the government they want is that it would give all of us the government they want."
But in my fanciful idea, people would be free to locate elsewhere. They wouldn't be getting money from the taxes we send in on high-tech, automation, medical inventions, and entertainment. We wouldn't be getting money from their mills, farms, mines, and tourism. They could spend it on teaching kids to read with Bible tracts, and as long as they didn't out-and-out establish an official religion, it would be none of our business, just as how we run things would be none of their business.
