Don't think I know who Jeffry Sachs is but I haven't been a follower of his. I am sure it would be nice to end 'extreme poverty in Africa' but how about 'ending extreme poverty' in Mississippi?

Poverty has been decreasing, not because of a anti-poverty plan but because technology makes it easier for people to get knowledge and tools and easier for buyers and sellers to reach one another.

I think the problem of global warming will solved in a similar fashion. If we set up ways to pay for the costs of greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation, smart people will invent ways to power the world without harming the environment.
