Pelosi blocks SOTU speech by Trump
The president sent a letter to Pelosi informing her that the SOTU speech will be held, responding to her first letter before the shutdown.
There is no security concern that is not solved.
Pelosi shot back as expected that "she won't allow" the speech take place.
Since it is no longer due to security concerns, it can only be that the left wants to prevent the President from addressing the nation, which was the idea from the beginning.

Now that would be something.
That would have the sweet benefit of not seeing Pelosi's mummy like face behind him.
Also, we would be spared from the non-clapping, sitting like stone democrats throughout his speech.
What game might he be playing this time? Trump doesn't take a dump without a plan. (Pardon the pun, and with apologies to Fred Dalton Thompson.)
"At first, I was willing to own this shutdown. That was when I believed that I could come to a compromise with Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats. But I was mistaken in that belief. So as of now, the Democrats own this shutdown: lock, stock, and barrel. They are the ones who are unwilling to come to the table. They are the ones who are unwilling to compromise on a position which only a few years ago they voted to support! So I'll just leave it here: my door is open. When you're ready to end the shut down, you'll find me right here waiting with pen in hand.
I will not compromise with the safety of the American people - to whom I swore an oath to serve and defend. If the Democrats are not willing protect and defend the American people, then the People of the United States will make it very clear to them that they need to change their minds and I call upon all freedom-loving Americans to call upon their Representatives and make their voiced heard."
I think the president will say what you did, one way or the other. He has already done so, before the stalemate.
Your idea has a point.
(I deleted my duplicate post, which appeared twice as a partial draft that had been deleted and wasn't supposed to be there at all.)
The minimum that should be done considering the vicious actions of the left.
What kind of sense of life is that? That is not the source of happiness to a rational individual. With all those ready to follow and take her place it wouldn't even be a victory. At most it would warrant a momentary sigh of relief, bracing for the next stage. It overestimates her importance even to the belligerent collectivists she unoriginally represents. Celebrating and wanting Pelosi to die is an uncivilized and mindless substitute for a proper response to them and what they stand for.
No doubt that the Dems simply want to muzzle the Pres.
What is the rationale for seeing Congress on the floor with their idiotic yelps and sit and stand routines. We don't want to see that, had enough of it for many years.
Especially not wanting to see a Hussein lecturing SOTU Justices about their decisions (wrongly).
He asked for a one day delay which Obama reluctantly agreed to because it would put him up against the NFL opening.
There was a lot of grumbling about how unprecedented Boehner's request for a delay was.
The SOTU address should be delivered from the oval office, with a feed to both the House and Senate, and no press. That way the President can focus on the facts, uninterrupted, and the American people can hear what is said, undistracted by the irrelevant clown show around him.
I think the idea to deliver the SOTU to Congress is that Congress supposed to represent the people, so it is a symbolic set where "all of America" is listening to the Commander in Chief.
However, it has been fatally distorted over the years to express the personal preferences of Senate and House members. When half of the floor stay seated, with stone face and not clapping, while the other half does the opposite, we realize the distortion.
“After 36 days of spirited debate and dialogue, I have seen and heard from enough Democrats and Republicans that they are willing to put partisanship aside, I think,” Mr. Trump said.
The stopgap spending bill, which would end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, provides no immediate funding for a border wall. Mr. Trump said he would continue to push for funding for such a barrier in the next three weeks, declaring: “Walls shouldn’t be controversial.”
He thanked federal workers for going more than a month without pay and said he would ensure they received back pay “very quickly or as soon as possible.”
See what comes out of this.
Not the compromise he expects.

He is not going to deliver SOTU speech until shutdown is over.
He is setting a bad precedent.
He should have delivered the speech from somewhere else. This emboldens the left. They take it as a victory. Trump is mistaken if he thinks compromise works with the left and they will reciprocate.
Will never happen.
I'm looking forward to whatever Trump has up his sleeve in this game of 4D chess with the left.
This apparent "blink" was nothing more than the setup for the next move. He knows that compromise will not work with the left and setting something up to expose them for who they are, again,...traitors to the Constitution and "We the People".
I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
I know exactly how he thinks and how effective he is in upsetting the left's manipulations.
It very well may be that he was willing to lose the battle in order to win the war.
We'll see.
