Government shutdowns

Why do we continue with this political circus of “Government shutdowns”? Here is how it actually works:

Only “non-essential” federal employees are actually laid off. “Essential” federal employees and contractors (who represent a large percentage of federal workers) continue to work, so the public does not notice any difference.

When the “shutdown” ends, federal employees who were laid off are reimbursed for lost pay. Thus the bottom line is that they get unearned extra vacation at taxpayer expense.

The federal government should remain shut down until the federal deficit is eliminated and the national debt is paid.

Shutting the damn thing down would be the greatest Christmas present, the greatest New Years Resolution, in mankind's history.
[I would add, only the lowest paid would perhaps receive an unemployment check and the rest can go to hell. ]

By sending them into the corner, nose to the wall, wearing an orange cone upon their pointed heads, they will not be able to get into mischief.

I see the prospect of a "government shutdown" much like telling the addled, dependent masses that there's a boogie man in their closet who's going to steal their gubment checks. The left uses it as a red herring, "Ohhhh, he's going to shut your daddy down..." I get tired of hearing it. It's deception...

Yeah, let me tell YOU how this works. I worked for the State of Texas - wow - years ago. Suddenly they couldn't pay us. Never mind, the Texas Commerce Bank of Houston paid us and later billed the State of Texas!!!! Never missed a check!
