What Is Property Tax?

If anyone has ever wondered? What if money finally loses its value? What if the dollar completely tanks, we go global curency, and then that falls apart like the Euro? However we manage to survive after that, what will be the method of taxation if any, and how will it be enforced? I shudder, because I think I will live to find out.

Perhaps the official tagline for property tax should be: "You have, I want." It's an idea that carries over to the time after currency loses value.

What "IS" is not the same as what "should be."

Which makes me think of a Led Zeppelin song...

I have no problem with the CONCEPT of property taxes that pay ONLY for the services to protect that property (the usual examples being police and fire).

I have a huge problem with what the whole monstrosity has become: yet another funding source for social welfare programs, esp. public-employee-union thugs

Good article, but the part where property increases in value is not always true. The sad part is that the tax is always going to go up....it Never goes down, as the government can find reasons to raise it to pay for their spending increases. Even more sad is the fact that most people have a mortgage and don't see this tax or the increase, the bank takes it out of the mortgage, so at the end of the loan, your mortgage is ongoing......
