You said "state" instead of "State", changing the meaning of the 2nd Amendment.
"State" (capitalized) in the Constitution always refers to one or more of the member republics of the union.
I understand the error; the AP and UPI stylguides teach that this is the correct way of dealing with the term. They are wrong, maliciously so, imo.
