Irrespective of the level of political nous that this type of 'reporting' is aimed at, I am delighted to see candidate Robin McCarthy's reply. I don't know him but I emailed and he agrees to my making this post. Incidentally his entire response was missing on the online version, despite his having completed it in time.

Our postal ballot for mayors and councillors for all 73 local authorities in NZ closes this saturday. Voting for local government is generally apathetic. 30'/. Is a good return
Considering how in our city since the earthquakes of 2010/2011 national govt has stripped the powers of our mayor and council, apathy is probably a fair response from most citizens.
Myself i am delighted a producer is prepared to acknowledge Rand's influence, which i why i made this wee post.
But the cartoons in the matrix - crikey have we stooped to that to get people to vote?
      Anyway i have voted.
And have just enjoyed the first cold beer of summer with Hank Rangar on my new kindle!
