"I am still a little astonished, at times, that too many adult Americans do not understand the nature of the fight against Communism as clearly as I understood it at the age of twelve: they continue to believe that only Communist methods are evil, while Communist ideals are noble." - Ayn Rand

I'm reminded how the left and the media treats the recent clashes between warped white supremacists and the vandalizing masked wannabe communists of Antifa.
    To wit~
When these two groups clash, all conservatives are evil racists and poor Antifa is being picked on.

At least for me, having not lived under communism, this is not obvious. I think we're adapted to fall into authoritarian patterns and have to overcome it with reason. Especially if you have never learned the details about free enterprise, communism is seductive. Alan Greenspan talks about it in his book. He used to hang out with Rand. He says free enterprise is contrary to what religion teaches and contrary to the facile answers some people give to kids.

If someone can see it for what it is by age 12 without having to live through its horrors, that's great. I think this quote is right though. Reasonable people who haven't experienced communism or who haven't studied it could easily see it as noble.
