Possible location to go shrug...

Hi, I'm still out in the desert and off-line most of the time. I won't be "back" (meaning: here) until next week.

But I drove through a town the other day that might, just might, be a place you could go shrug.

I didn't stop; it was just a feeling I got as I was driving through. Isolated, far from everything, and it looked like people do pretty much what they want and that Government isn't particularly welcome there.

There was a gun shop on every corner. That's a pretty good start.

Pahrump, Nevada.

Since there's no arable land there, and as far as I can tell no jobs, you will need to have already made your money. You will probably want most of it in the form of gold (and silver).

Again, I didn't stop, didn't talk to anyone, it was just a feeling I got as I was driving through town. If you're serious about shrugging, it's a place you could go look at for yourself.

Of course you don't have to go anywhere to "shrug". The model we could follow is simply from the book Atlas Shrugged. In Galts radio address he urges people to stop innovating, simply work for yourself and your own basic needs. Easier said than done. If you're going to be a part of a movement to shrug then you have to accept the consequences. The result long term is the collapse of society. But you have to continue to pursue your passions in private. Isn't that's what shrugging is after all? Few of us can really shrug in practice. It's all just loose talk unless you have no family and/or considerable savings. All this talk about going somewhere to shrug is silly. Just read atlas shrugged and do it.
