I just discovered that a stage adaptation of the Fountainhead is playing at a theater in Seoul, South Korea, this weekend. Ivo Van Hove acquired the rights to adapt the novel, and his play was first shown at the Festival d'Avignon in Avignon, France in July 2014. If you do a Google search on "the Fountainhead interview with Ivo Van Hove," you can download the pdf file. Van Hove talks about how he first discovered the Fountainhead in 2007 and why he adapted it for the theater. I am not sure if it has ever been shown in the U.S. I recall that Barbara Branden wrote a stage adaptation of the book which Ayn Rand liked more than her movie adaptation. The play was supposed to open in the fall of 1968, but production was cancelled after the Rand/Branden split.
