This article is interesting but depicts a liberal in a very different light than I would depict one.

If your a "conservative" you generally want to control the world around you through military force, control others peoples morals and belief systems and push anyone out who does not think like you.

If your a liberals you generally are the people that want to control if we wear a seat belt or not, what guns we can or cannot own, control what we eat, and ultimately control how we think. You do not care about morals and think the military needs to be defended.

These are tremendous generalizations and certainly will not be true for all in either case to say that liberals want people to live and be happy is ludicrous unless you add only if you share there common interests in having someone else pay for it.

It is obvious the author is attempting to reach out to libereals and provide some shared background and interests. Liberals want big government where they desire it but not where they do not.

A truly objective person can see that having a large government in the areas of society you like it in must by necessity allow a large government in the areas of life you don't want it in. The only solution is to keep government only strong enough to perform its essential functions and no larger.

In a truly objective society that would be no government at all as none would be needed. The public would govern themselves. I cannot see a conservitive or a liberal working towards elimination of the need of government as the fundamental principle of the function of government.
