As described in the book, Scrooge had numerous faults, but Dickens specifically condemned him for not fulfilling his "duty" to be altruistic. Scrooge's encounter with Marley's Ghost would have proceeded quite differently if written by an Objectivist.

I never did like a Christmas Carol. Didn't really consider why but it makes sense now.
